especially now that DHL is ceasing domestic shipments within the united states and turning those operations over to UPS.

is there a list out there of web retailers that only ship through fedex/usps? because i never want to deal with "brown" and their willful incompetence again.

usually i get work stuff but one day the ups guy showed up nodding his head and smiling at my door w/my custom nikes shipped from china in his hand all i know you been waiting for these

i like my ups guy fwiw

permanent fun dollars (ice crӕm), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:15 (seventeen years ago)

my "guy" puts in so little effort. he barely even stops long enough to put the "we missed you" sticky on the door (when i'm home) and speed away.

i am... sasha obama (get bent), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:17 (seventeen years ago)

yah the quality of ups guys varies wildly

yeah ups sucks but i can't really blame the individual drivers for anything, they have a lot to do. fwiw fedex engages in many types of shady employment/labor practices. if u care about that kind of thing.

horrible (harbl), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:34 (seventeen years ago)

my ups guy is real friendly and honks his horn so i know to come out. i do really hate how you can't have them leave stuff out a lot of the time, even if you ask for it. it's like only the unemployed can receive packages wtf

i had a long argument with a UPS customer service rep the other day about this.

carne asada, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:37 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i did the same thing last year, i think the CS lady just thought i was nuts and had heard it 1000 times before. mostly because i said "but it's MY package!" and hung up on her.

horrible (harbl), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

they have to have a signature if you live in a crime-prone area. i don't think it matters whose signature -- so in theory anyone could run off with your package.

i am... sasha obama (get bent), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i know that but there should be some kind of hold harmless if i ask them to waive the signature

horrible (harbl), Wednesday, 12 November 2008 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

god they really are fucking awful

schwww im tired (harbl), Wednesday, 26 November 2008 23:03 (seventeen years ago)

can anything be done if he just drove away after he left the final attempt notice on my mailbox without even knocking on my door? i was here, waiting! not my fault

schwww im tired (harbl), Wednesday, 26 November 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

got some scam email from "UPS" @ my third-string account, the one i use for registering online etc, informing me that a package couldn't be delivered (which is bullshit cause the elevator guy is always there to sign) and I would be charged $26 a day until I picked up the package? whatever

m coleman, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 23:20 (seventeen years ago)

oh i guess i can still reschedule it online but it won't let me pick friday. isn't that a business day? seriously how do they think people get packages?

schwww im tired (harbl), Wednesday, 26 November 2008 23:22 (seventeen years ago)

apparently there have been problems in my neighborhood recently with packages being left on porches and stolen when the recipients aren't home, so i guess they don't have to get signatures all the time. if you live in an area where this happens, though, it makes sense to request them if you can.

Maria, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 23:23 (seventeen years ago)

Not so friendly now then.. Parcel guys are completely unaccountable for their actions. They'll just come out with some bullshit if you get into them, or if you complain and their boss gets into them. And the bosses tend to be ex-parcel men so they know all the bullshit anyway, and will take the driver's side. Gah, I'm still wracked with guilt from the last week of driving for ParcelForce, 4 years ago, when they stuck me to cover someone else's route which I didn't know at all, and I didn't deliver a 9am parcel until later, because it would've really fucked up the rest of my route, and 99% of the time the receiver doesn't really care about timed deliveries. This was the 1% that did. I said I'd broken down. She didn't believe me, but I was really past caring by that point.
