I love tattoos and I want another one or two. Respect to my pal Tash for having Stussy tattooed on her ankle!

I have five. I want twice as many more. I've been holding off on getting half-sleeved since teaching and tattoos don't go hand in hand.
I knew someone who had a heart that read "Her Name". Genius.
If you think that tattoos were once "hip and cool" and have since fallen out of fashion, then you DON'T HAVE A FUCKING CLUE!!! You should not speak of which you do not know.

LEGIT REASON: I can't honestly think of any image that I can imagine never wanting to part with in the future. A lot of tattoo ideas I had even just two years ago seem really naive and silly in retrospect.
WEAK REASON: everyone says getting a tattoo hurts like a motherfucker. I don't like pain. I'm a wuss. I wish I could get a non-permanent simulation of a tattoo application, just so I know what it's like, and lay it to rest.

draw on your self with a Sharpie!! its fun, u can scribble and draw squares or write "I've been poisoned" or "delirious and obsessive play" or label all yr body parts or make a blind contour drawing of yr cat on yr chest.
making art with the idea of permanence in mind IS PARALYZING.
― gabriel (gabe), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 11:15 (twenty-three years ago)
"our situations will be ephemeral, without a future: passageways. the permanence of art or anything else does not enter into our considerations, which are serious. eternity is the grossest idea a person can conceive of in connection with his acts..." --guy debord.

This sort of attitude strangely irks me a bit, this whole "you know, not rebelling is the new 'rebelling'" thing. I don't know exactly why it does, but it strikes me as being a bit condescending, like it's saying, "Ooh, you'll definitely stir up a sea of attention by looking like and living as though you stepped out of some 1950s sitcom," when I know for sure that I would, for example, have my attention grabbed by someone who looks more like they belong in this decade than I would by someone who looks more, um, like me.
For me, the presence of a tattoo is still more noticeable than the absence of one. This is not because of my country of origin; this is because I know I'd be disowned by my mother if I got one, so few of my relatives and [offline] friends actually have one, and because a tiny little segment of my mind desires one as a means of breaking out of this real-life role I've seemed to assign myself. So maybe I am a big freak, but because of thoughts instead of deeds.

The little stars abve and below mars are Phobos and Demos.
In the real world, stars and planets are both spheres. I've chosen circles or star-shapes depending on which looks nice, and that says something about how art represents things quite symbolically. There's no particular reason I should draw the sun as a star-shape and the Earth, say, as a circle, apart from tradition.
(Planets might twinkle like stars when you see them!)

The way it worked for me is they traced over my drawing (actually a print from photoshop - it's got a steadier hand than me!) using carbon paper then pressed it onto my body, then tattood over the blue carbon ink.
I'd say keep it fairly simple and not too small and you'll be fine.

my new boy, T., has a NOLA tat which kind of inspired me.
it's the dallas skyline with "East Dallas" written above and below it in an arc, and "Assassination City" written in script over the skyline.
can't fucking wait to get it.

Last night during office drinks, my colleague Abby insisted on giving everyone a black marker pen kanji symbol. I now think the inner forearm looks quite cool tattooed. Bet it hurts like burglary, though.
