Anyone else had a dose of this?
I was out tonight and my friends made this huge deal, albeit in a nice way, of going to this awful local nightclub, like truly dreadful. They were all going and I didn't want to go even though I wanted to hang out with them, cos basically it's the sort of place where everyone is kind of hyper-local. I haven't been for 2 years but my enduring memory of the place is of people I don't know calling me a faggot!
I'm sure part of my antipathy is also just paranoia about feeling different or looking out of place but I resisted about a half an hour of friends kind of jokingly urging me to go along. I ended up going home alone and felt sort of immature but I knew I'd have hated it there. Plus they play "Sweet Caroline" and stuff...
Any of you have a small hometown where these issues come up? It's weird cos these are my oldest friends but I always feel like I can't quite explain why I hate this nightclub so much without sounding like a jerk or attacking something they like, even though they also joke about how crap it is.

no problem with "Sweet Caroline". problem with standing in some club feeling forced to sing it.
I hated this place before I left too btw and this exact thing used to happen.

Can we do this with where I live now? At the end of the night in equivalent club they play Tiny Dancer

Also the only time anything vaguely good gets played it is because it has just been in an ad (I'm looking at you os mutantes)
