I liked it!

I got kind of tired of Angelina going "That's not my sooooon" every five or so minutes. On the whole, this movie really pissed me off actually. I can't seem to remember much from it actually so I'll restrain from any further comments !

It would make for a good drinking game!
I had no idea it was going to involve a killer of children.

I was like "cops are SO BAD to women!" through the whole movie, which hasn't really changed today, in my experience.

Short of actually dressing up in a gold statuette costume with a little hole cut in the shiny bald head for her face, and hopping around in each scene with her feet together in a heavy cylindrical base with her name embossed in big letters, Angelina Jolie could not make her career expectations for this film any clearer.Peter BradshawThe Guardian

I liked it but Angelina Jolie doesn't do "distraught" very well. She was much more convincing when she was being either stoic or angry. Her moments of anguish involve a ridiculous face and some kind of "Unggh!" noise coming from her very large mouth.
Also, the movie is ostensibly about one woman facing an entire corrupt city or whatever, but then most everything gets done because of the influence of the famous radio preacher -- so that's kind of weird. I guess one person can overcome great obstacles if they have a highly influential famous person helping them.

Watched this yesterday evening. Jolie's acting didn't bother me so much, maybe b/c I was distracted by the other performances and the period details. What did bug me was the trauma porn aspect-- the film basically amounted to a two-hour+ series of depictions of some of the most agonizing, horrifying situations that can befall human beings. It's almost 24 hours later and I am feeling like I need to binge on some especially silly lighthearted stuff as a means of clearing out the disturbing images that are still flashing through my mind. Precious was whimsical compared to this.

I couldn't get past the fact that it was kind of her own fault because she left her child home alone. Is that harsh?

No, but it's very possible that you need a dose of ECT
