I've just left the theatre out of sheer desperation. I think I may have snored at one point.

If there's already a thread about this turgid nonsense I can't find it.

fucking worst movie ever i want those 3 hours back plus punitive damages

thieverend (tehresa), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:41 (seventeen years ago)

It's every bit as mawkish and arbitrary as Forrest Gump, which as it turns out is no surprise because it's written by the same bloke.

Pope Gay Homo Awful House Music (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:41 (seventeen years ago)

xp oh thank christ I'm not alone.

Pope Gay Homo Awful House Music (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:42 (seventeen years ago)

Pope Gay Homo Awful House Music (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:58 (seventeen years ago)

Surmounter, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 06:08 (seventeen years ago)

F Scott Fitzgerald wrote Forrest Gump???

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into a box of chocolates."

"made smashable" (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 07:07 (seventeen years ago)

Had I bothered to look at the credits and see Eric Roth and Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall I'd have known it'd be formulaic Hollywood US-academy-award-tailored cods.

Pope Gay Homo Awful House Music (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 07:30 (seventeen years ago)

I don't want to say much more in case I spoil it for someone but jesus.

Pope Gay Homo Awful House Music (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 07:33 (seventeen years ago)

this looks like some bullshit. I will never see it.

Its getting darker!!!!!!!!!! (clotpoll), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 08:40 (seventeen years ago)

How does anyone ever expect good things to come from the jackass that made Fight Club and Panic Room?

Zodiac was a fluke.

Hatch, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 13:30 (seventeen years ago)

enlightening

pazuzu's petals (latebloomer), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 13:31 (seventeen years ago)

Seven & Fight Club are, of course, splendid contemporary fairytales. And Kathleen Kennedy has produced several of the best Hollywood films of the last 30 years.

Come anticipate David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 14:13 (seventeen years ago)

i liked panic room. I do want to see this because I basically am a fincher fanboy, but 3 hours is a big commitment.

akm, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)

Nice to see the Pitt-Fincher ass kicked by Brad's ex and a dog. Plus this movie looks like the intersection of A Very Long Engagement and Big Fish; i.e., shit.

it's nice that we all agree on b.o. numbers as the ultimate arbiter

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

i kinda want to see it just for the new orleans setting

As if one might disagree...

It is three fucking hours long and a soporific among even the young and attentive???? OH MY FUCKING DEAR.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

Is Dreamworks gonna do like it does with all the Pixars – the thing where it makes an Antz to their Bug's Life and a Fish Tale (Shark's Tale?) to their Finding Nemo – and make a hilarious romp out of Time's Arrow?

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

I enjoyed the movie. I went expecting very little but wanting last minute to go see a movie, any movie. I also must admit that I just like looking at Brad Pitt. I rarely find myself asking, "What're the make-up artists going to do next?" but that's a gimme with this movie and a fun game to play. My heart was actually kind of warmed by this. I am a simp. Throw your scorn upon me now.

Maria :D, Sunday, 4 January 2009 06:09 (seventeen years ago)

I haven't seen it, but my dead client bought the rights decades ago and yet it stayed in the can until a few years ago when another client (quite alive!) took a second look and decided to bring it to life now. My gut feeling is that it will be acclaimed by the academy but it will just miss the mark when it comes to the public; yet had it been made a couple of decades ago, it would have been better, perceived as better by both the public and the industry.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 4 January 2009 06:50 (seventeen years ago)

Best thing Ned's posted this week, at least!

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 4 January 2009 06:50 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

This is one of those films that spends it's whole runtime jumping up and and down shouting "look at me, I'm IMPORTANT" whilst saying absolutely nothing. There were no philosophical conclusions drawn from the conceit at all.

Ecstasy Mother Forster (special guest stars mark bronson), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:03 (seventeen years ago)

i knew this was gonna be a great movie as soon as i saw that peter bradshaw gave it one star in the guardian

Ward Fowler, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 16:23 (seventeen years ago)

I actually generally agreed with that review.
