Please help me to identify a film...

...based on a scene I remember seeing a long time ago. It's a b&w film, probably from the late 1960s. Maybe French or Italian. The scene I recall was set somewhere like the UN or a similar international assembly. Behind this assembly was a wall of glass, and behind the glass were a lot of translators, possibly wearing headsets and speaking into microphones. I seem to recall one translator in particular - in my memory she looks like Anna Karina wearing black-rimmed glasses, but it probably wasn't her. The scene was brightly lit, the building modern, and I think the atmosphere was kind of noisy/chaotic. The director's style it most reminds me of (in my hazy memory) is Antonioni.

I saw this scene years ago on TV - an excerpt in some documentary.

Any help greatly appreciated...

i have no idea, but you tried browsing imdb's keywords? these are 48 movies tagged with United Nations http://www.imdb.com/keyword/united-nations/?title_type=feature

(so i don't think it was the United Nations, at first glance i don't see any french/italian sixties movie)

I was going to say that, but I'm not sure the description fits

Dante ... Bruno . Vico .. Passantino (Tom D.), Tuesday, 26 May 2009 09:33 (fourteen years ago) link

Don't think it is, but could it be Orson Welles version of 'The Trial'?

Ah!

"Anna Karina" could be Elsa Martinelli

Dr Strangelove

Is that a statment of fact or a question? Because this is starting to bug me and I can't decide whether to start watching Dr.Stranglove again to check.

I don't think there's a scene like that in Dr. Strangelove. There's a brigthly lit room but no glass wall or translators.

If it is 'The Trial',and it certainly fits some of the description, then I'd guess that the documentary is the Arena double special from 1982 which looked back at his career. Later released theatrically as 'With Orson Welles: Stories from a Life in Film'.

OK, it's not Alphaville. Pretty nearly there a couple of times, but not exactly.

(just fast forwarded through my DVD, so I'm pretty sure about it)

six months pass...

Trying to id a film based on a tiny memory of it. Would have been from mid 80s-mid 90s I think, possibly with a one-word title (something similar to "Frailty" maybe, as that's what reminded me of it). A woman is on the run or in hiding or something and cons a guy into helping her. I can only remember the end, where she tries to kill a guy but he's left his phone on and the police are on the other end (or something) and turn up. Can't remember whether the girl gets away or not, but there was something about a mailbox that would have incriminated her - I think the mailbox had her fake name on it and there was a key or the fake label for it. This turns out to be a piece of evidence that proves she was masterminding the whole thing. (But I can't remember whether the police get it or she takes it).

No rapping professors appear. Ta!
