In praise of "X [units of time] pass..."

Of the many fantastic new developments (remove bookmark, view last page), I think that "X time passes...." enhances my enjoyment the most.

Everyone OTM. I heart this so much. Especially appropriate when you're reading something like the Hope Sandoval thread and see "7 years pass..."

I noticed it earlier today in the Racist Products thread and I thought someone wrote it as part of their post, but then I saw "3 Years Pass" on the "do you stick X in your Y while trying to move your X up your back" thread and realized it was a feature.

Yeah I love it too, it adds a sense of hilarious drama to things. Its great! Did Keith come up with that one?

Ah, so this explains why so many old threads have been revived - to see this feature in action.

I was reading in a text-mode browser yesterday (so no font styles) and thought it was part of people's posts, a new meme to dig up old threads and shrug snarkily at our crazy olden thought processes or the epic silence following the last post. But now I've realised it isn't I think it's pretty cool.

My only complaint is that "Three years pass... Thorin sits down and starts singing about gold" is too long for a screen name.

I didn't like it to start with because I liked the lines breaking the thread into chapters. I think Keith's had a play though and there's now a line AND [time] passes! Which is awesome, btw.
