So a friend of mine was raving about i-mode the other week. I knew it was a japanese thing, something to do with communication. But what is it exactly? (The band was playing too loud so I couldn't hear my friend tell me - maybe I should have messaged him on my mobile? haha).

i misread "soda" as "sofa" and i had serious anxiety about the japanese being that much farther ahead than the rest of the world

It's like WAP, data and text services on a mobile, except the Japanese have much posher phones with colour and decent screens and fast data connections so it's actually nearly good and useful.
