stupid questions abt FTP

1. what is a good free app for uploading and downloading (my fetch free trial expired)
2. ok so i download an html doc from the ftp folder, correct it, save it and upload to the folder -> i assume it is read on the web thanks to the url embedded in the doc rather than just the title of the doc (or shd i save the doc always with the same name when i korrekt it) 3. if i am correcting it using a difft app to the one that created it, it will save it as (for example) a netscape composer doc => is this a problem or will it still read it on the net?

Files appear on the web with the same *filename* as in the ftp folder. File creators ect are only remembered on Macintosh disks, ftp has no way to even store it, so it doesn't matter, just make sure you name it .htm or .html . And you don't have to worry about anything within the document.

If you want easy webspace, Apple iDisk is really good, free, and integrated into MacOS X. Go to System Preferences > iTools to sign up (updating to OS X 10.1.5 (System Preferences > Software Update) makes it work even better).

five years pass...

roughly how long should a 16 minute slideshow take to load in quicktime over ftp? i need to put it to music for someone tonight. so far it's been about an hour and i'm still staring at that inert blue "Q". it tells me it's transfering data...

start -> run -> cmd -> ftp ftp.blablabla.com -> ls -> cd folder -> ls -> set b -> hash -> get file.txt -> bye

or is that too oldfashioned?
