a flock of pigeons have decided they own my front porch. what am i a statue? how do i get rid of these dirty birds?

i have the exact same problem only it is my balcony, they crap all over the balcony, my downstairs neighbour is not pleased when i hose it off onto their balcony. they are also terribly noisy and for some reason have taken to bringing 10 penny nails to my balcony. and then there is the woodpecker pecking at the chimney cover.

An uncle of mine who lives just outside of Richmond, Virginia, has on previous occasions shot squirrels (aka "fuzzy-tailed rats") in the back yard, and proceeded to clean and cook them. Could you treat these pigeons as self-delivering poultry?
