i've only just read the blimmin bangbus thread. so now cult porn googlers come across (fnar) greenspun as it appears in something like 4th or 5th place when you just type "bangbus" in to google.

What other words/short phrases get ILX up into the top 5 odd hits?

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i mean "non-obvious" words/phrases.

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

pokemong

mitch lastnamewithheld, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That bangbus thread is supa-freaky (mostly just because bangbus is kind of gross and serious porn enthusiasts tend to be kind of scary). At which point does it become unmanageable and spawn a sequel thread a la Jay Z/Nas though?

Alex in SF, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Momus, do you like Hitler?" will probably result in an interesting google, yah.

Alex in SF, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i love it that graham's added a sitemeter bug to the thread!

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"momus hitler" = ILX at number 1. still, not so surprising

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We used to be one of the most popular resources for Hundred Reasons fans online... sadly we no longer fulfil that role :(

Dom Passantino, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Googling "grebt" gives you the EMMA'S HAIR!! thread at No.1, with atommick brane site not very far behind...

Jeff W, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Internet mentalists" gets a No.1 result, with an amusing byline at number 2 ("Fancy some Rhum?")

Simeon, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

THAT REALLY IS GREBT!

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Given the origin of the word I am not at all happy about it being linked to my hair.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

'Interweb mentalists' gets 'ATTN TOM EWING' as its first hit!!!! Google KNOWS!!!!

Sarah, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

try googling your name!

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

do not google my name! you get a picture thread that ends with the goatse.cx picture. DANGER! DANGER!

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i was wrong about 'pokemong', but 'rockism' works! ('popism' doesn't). 'most unacceptable' brings up ilx at #1.

mitch lastnamewithheld, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"skinny girls" gets ETHAN's thread at #6. No such luck for "fat girls"

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We're number one for "Is Morrisey a racist?". Is that something to proud of?

Dom Passantino, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

proof that popism doesn't exist!!

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So neither do fat girls? You're disappointing the Hundred Reasons fans Mark.

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

All the bangbus referrals are boring so far. But 268 hits in 16 hours, wow.

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

One for "cumfiesta" ew. And they've clicked all the way to number 165.

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, and we're also number one for "Japanese monster wrestling".

Dom Passantino, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually Mark "popism" is V. Sassoon's name for their new styling look!

nabisco%%, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

we score the only hits for "Vadgemonkey".

DV, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

we also come top for "porn psychic".

DV, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Best thread evah! (A comment and a suggestion.)

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"best evah" = #7

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

pinketron = #1

Kim, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry to rain on your procession, Mr Vicar (or may I call you ‘Dirty’?), but four of those ten Vadgemonkeys are on Ask A Drunk, not ILX.

Rex, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"masturbate kittens" = ILX at #1

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

#1 @ "can we eat them"

bnw, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry to rain on your procession, Mr Vicar (or may I call you ‘Dirty’?), but four of those ten Vadgemonkeys are on Ask A Drunk, not ILX.

blimey, the mysterious Greenspun alternate universe strikes again.

DV, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE DEPT:
"urgent and key" = oh no! fite! OH NO!!

mark s, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Chinese Embassy in Canberra wants a piece of it too!

N., Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Radio Free Narnia is more relevant than the House of Commons!

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

While, obviously, "classic or dud" comes up with us at #1, the two threads it chooses to represent the myriad wonder of CoD are... Christopher Walken and Embrace.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

#1 (and the ONLY one) for "hypermediated and hypersexualized environment that shows every sign of worsening" - we are clearly on the forefront here.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, but look - this site has a direct link to the Christoper Walken: Classic or Dud thread. It's a classic or dud classic.

N., Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I zone out of my *own* conversations, primarily the ones about i) uselessness/neediness of certain students (who I am being paid to teach so just SHUT UP) and ii) roadworks at Copmanthorpe and its effects on my travelling strategies (NO ONE CARES).

Ellie, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

roadworks at Copmanthorpe = also urgent and key topic of conversation for my mother (!)

RickyT, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"ilx" = we're not even in the first 100 listings

mitch lastnamewithheld, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oops, sorry, wrong thread. My commiserations to your mum, RickyT!

Ellie, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't worry, Ellie: if it makes you feel any better google "I am now completely in love with you" (with the quotes).

nabisco%%, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Me vs. my newfound online-spazmoid identity: FITE.)

nabisco%%, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

According to the Site Meter referrals the bang bus thread has us at #46 for "little boy porn". Something to be proud of.

Graham, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

CREEPY.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

NB: It wasn't me.

Graham, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ILM is #2 for "Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen"

Graham, Sunday, 23 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

classic LLB post: "I love love love love love him! AND I am probably the only satanist punk to do so..."

mark s, Sunday, 23 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

but not #2 if you spell his name correctly ('Laurence')

michael, Sunday, 23 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

that thread is the only Google response for 'frilly shirted git'

michael, Sunday, 23 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
