Do you often find yourself being contrary? Can it become too much fun?

No, because when it starts getting fun the true contrarian will get annoyed with themselves.

I am not sure who is teh most contrary between me and Emma but if you ply us with drinks and sit us upstairs on a bus you can guarantee a half hour argument of stupendous pointlessness.

Pete, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm totally contrary. I am so contrary I wonder if I can trust my own opinions sometimes. I amn't contrary with people in arguments or something but about general issues and lectures in college and everything else I'm just totally contrary and it's odd because as I say you can never fully trust yourself.

trust me i'm the doxa

"it's the way ye tell em", Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am not contrary! Pete is the contrary one round our way as he has proved by contrarily accusing me of being contrary. Contrary implies being deliberately difficult and I am only ever inadvertently difficult.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think I'm just plain ready-salted difficult.

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've played devil's advocate for so long now I fear I've been typecast.

Lynskey, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Apparently I am. Too much fun? How can it ever be too much?

nathalie, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

fuck you, jel.

jess, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(= "who, me?")

jess, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

:(

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i was just being contrary.

jess, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

never in a serious way.

queenoftheharpies, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no.

hamish, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Perhaps. But not likely.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I feel like I can argue either side of an issue, but I usually alert the other person if I'm playing devil's advocate. I'm really quite sincere. Constantly being contrary is annoying and boring.

Sean, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nah. I'm a lousy contrarian.
