i) yes, it is annoying of your friend to give away your mobile phone number
ii) don't stay angry. make it clear to your friend that you would rather she hadn't divulged your number. staying angry and proving a point is not advisable.

I am in university and I think I have just realised that it is a review week and I have no lectures. my eye is twitching, is it the milk or the cigarettes?

Last week I broke up with my boyfriend, nicely and tearfully and with assurances that I would try not to leave him in our horrible apartment to starve by himself, since he's not working and has no income (because he chose to quit his job in December).

He has complained multiple times about how inconvenient it is that I want to move out now, and called me UNFAIR for not taking equal responsibility for the lease that is in his name with his landlords for an apartment I said I would never live in from the first second I saw it, and which I was railroaded into by his multiple strong refusals to consider anything else.

For a year, I have wasted MY time and, more importantly right now, MY MONEY on a lifestyle that I despise, and with someone who is unpleasant, even cruel, on a daily basis, and yet ALWAYS needed someone else to take care of the details and was happy to unload his burdens onto me. He doesn't want a girlfriend, he wants another mother with better nurturing skills and deeper pockets -- and no self-esteem, apparently.

AND I AM RIPPING MAD.

I'm sorry Laurel. This guy has always sounded like a dick to me. Congratulations on doing something about it. It's totally cool if you want to be angry.

Sounds like he deserves every ounce of misery he gets, is barrelling toward it full speed, and I don't think you should protect him from any of it. Congrats on dumpage.

he sounded truly terrible from the things you had described before, and while usually in these situations there is always the possibility that there is much more to the story than the negative stuff, it didn't seem like that at all in this case.

i'm really happy for you! sure, it will be super shitty times until you've moved out, found a new place and settled in, then will probably come some nostalgia for the lost relationship, but then will come the euphoria of being free from someone else's misery-inducing behaviour and personality.
