when i saw that doorag was here i immediately felt better about this whole thing.
I danced to the chills, it was fun. Martin Phillippps has bad dress sense, but I can't say too much, b/c he could be lurking over my shoulder at any minute.

also There was no cake or anything. And the whole reason for the party was that Arc was turning five. and no cake? despicable.
haha it says WARNING CHOKING HAZARD, and if you look at his hands you see it is korrekt to do so
Doorag says "everyone can work it out for themselves that this thread has negated itself. See how much fun we're having?!"

Has, at only 21 years of age, going out stopped being fun?

Yeah, I'm practically 22 now, but things have been less and less fun over the last 2 years. Unfortunately I don't live in a city with good daytime events where I could meet my desire for dance party action without having to go through the whole hitting up da klub experience, especially taking the fucking night bus home.

to me going out almost always seems like a good idea until i make it out and then wish i was home.

I am drunk
^^ the last time I went to a club. haha
― I Think Ur a Viking (dyao), Friday, 30 April 2010 14:13 (sixteen years ago)
For me, it's not so much as that I hate going out, as that I hate going out when I'm not getting to do exactly as I want - I know that sounds spoiled but I'm currently very poor and a lot of my friends have really different (i.e not-as-good-as-mine) taste in "clubs" and music. I'd rather sit in the house with a book and some sweets than dance around somebody's handbag to The Fratellis ever again.
― boxedjoy, Friday, 30 April 2010 22:59 (sixteen years ago)
I'm 28 and I've been dead sick of going out for around 2 years now, though I still do it. In Atlanta there are like 4-5 things going on every single night of the week and everybody goes to all of them and everyone is drunk and existing in some incoherent, stunted, unending party that never develops into anything. What do you even talk about with people that you just saw the night before and the night before that?
I mean, rah-rah for nihilism/debauchery/drinking away the nothing-ness cos we're in our 20s and we're so deep. All we're really doing is giving money to Camel and Miller brewing co.

When I was ~20 and heavily into drinking, E and willing to try whatever drugs might be offered to me, I looked up one morning and realized I hadn't accomplished shit in six months. I hadn't even finished a book, where in prior times I was doing an average-sized novel a week in addition to school reading.
It didn't get me to stop doing anything completely at that point, but I realized that I didn't want to be going out seven nights a week.

i hate going out unless it's to spend time with people i haven't seen in a few months. but really i'd still rather do my catching up at someone's house.
― scrappy dyaoo (darraghmac), Saturday, 1 May 2010 01:25 (sixteen years ago)
i always like going out

Yeah, now it's like I'm excited to see someone play, and then I'm waiting at the club thinking I'd be having more fun doing schoolwork at the library, frankly.
― Tonight I Dine on Turtle Soup (EDB), Saturday, 1 May 2010 03:55 (sixteen years ago)
I still long for those ecstatic moments that seem to wave over you for hours when a DJ is just on and you're feeling it, and where time and space seem to change form. As much as I can long and anticipate, though, I am consistently disappointed, as even when a DJ or whoever is 'just on', that feeling isn't there. It seems like going out, at best, involves listening to music on a good soundsystem, and getting a bit of exercise, despite preobably being tired to begin with.
