It was indeed rub - esp. Hoskins and Falk. The BBC claimed that there was no T-Rex in this version 'cos Tyranosaurus bones hadn't been discovered in Conan Doyle's day - but this decision was so obv. made for budgetary reasons rather than out of any respect for the text, as the screenplay added all sorts of subplots and new characters...
