Does anyone else here suffer from delusiona of grandeur/flighta of ideas/increased sexual appetite and heightened energy levels?

Is there anything wrong with the above?

I don't believe in glamorising mental illness, let's discuss this like rational adults.

I AM GOING TO SAVE THE WORLD!

yes, as someone who suffers from some of the above, but mostly the below - it's dangerous, it irritates and ostracises others, and it can lead to dangerous abusvie situations

Why is it dangerous? I should have paid more attention to this thread but a friend of mine turned up and we've had a lost few daze.

Interesting that cocaine was mentioned. Rock'n'roll aspires to a condition of mania, IMHO.

I'd say you're quite right

because you lose a sense of perspective, and with that, your control on things - but others may not realise that, and they trust you , and you can abuse that trust and that love and fuck them over so bad, but two days later you'll come down, not know what was happening, and they'll be there looking at you as if britney spears and barry white have morphed with richard simmons

it's very bad. listen to someone who is trying to recover from another "emotional hangover." you calm down and realize you can't fix everything you damaged. this sends you spiraling down into the pit of depression. each time you cycle back and forth you wonder if it's even worth breathing. . .

what the poster describes isn't full-blown mania, it's just an increased level of energy. i've never had mania.

For years I used to envy the bipolar, because I felt cheated by never having had a manic episode. But in the last few months I've had a few spells like you just described, and I'm sorry that they happened...because it sucks so much when you drop back into the pit.

Whatever it is, I'm sure it beats the hell out of borderline personality disorder, where you can't even face your problems and take responsibility for them and drive all of your 'friends' away. That must be one hell of a compulsive, addictive nightmare.

BPD - is that an american thing?

manic miner, Sunday, 30 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mania = will to power = joie de vivre = passion = enthusiasm = joy

en-theos = enfused with god-energy, manTic = prophetic)

Psychosis = TROUBLE! BIG BIG TROUBLE!

is mania related to shania?

There is much thought to the idea that BPD is bullshit. Many different people with many different dx's are termed "BPD". Some feel it is just a catch-all dx for "lazy" doctors and their "difficult" patients. In addition to anxiety disorder, PTSD, bipolar with mixed states and alcoholic I've been dubbed BPD. what does that mean to me? not a whole fucking lot. It doesn't tell me anything all the other fucking acronyms doesn't cover and it doesn't offer any solutions. To me saying some is "borderline" isn't a goddamned answer it's just a give up.
