(and that other thread's too long)

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Behold the impish stare. The nu-subdued gait. The 'ello Big bruder. I like him.

david h, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

God that moustache.

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Smug Johnny cares not for the rules of eviction or anything really beyond smoking and staring with a serene grin on his face.

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

serene grin = the impish part of 'impish stare'

david h, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

As Tom says, just for taking Tim over to the poor side Jonny deserves a knighthood for services to the nation.

Emma, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jonny i can cope with. however, jade is an ignorant backstabbing little shit with the most annoying voice ever invented and tim is just a wanker. full stop. AARRGHHHHH!!!!!

katie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Whoa hard day?

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(haha Ronan, well kind of but also when i was watching it last night the FULL FORCE of jade's annoyingness crashed down heavily upon me and i realised i hadn't voiced it on ILE for a while... just so you all know! :))

katie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sowee, big bruwwa, I didn't mean to dowit.

jade, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha Yeah I watched it last night and the part where she was singing was awful. My brothers fiancee likes her but both of us were like oh dear god.

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

that baby act she did in the diary room was EXCRUCIATING to watch. she annoys me on so many levels it's not even funny.

katie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You would like it if you liked her. Have a HEART Ktee.

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This whole "Tim" thing is causign me great distress. Have there been *any* sympathetic characters/individuals called Tim in popular culture over the last (say) 25 years? (Except Tim Finney of course, who is the King of the World)

Yes Tim off BB is a twerp but I might have to change my name.

Blast that Enid Blyton. Bless that Edward Ardizzone.

Tim, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronnie Corbett's character in "Sorry". Timothy Claypole in Rentaghost.

Alan T, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Poor Tim. Don't worry, every time we say TIM MUST GO we qualify it with NOT OUR TIM. You are Our Tim now. The day we stop saying NOT OUR TIM is the day you have to start worrying (or not as the case may be).

Emma, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jonny was more circumspect in his reaction, simply taking off the classic film Airplane by saying: "What a p****r".

Can someone be my Heinstein and explain.

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

b-b-but graham i do NOT like her! she is thicker than i think anyone i've ever seen or heard of (did you read the story on the c4 website about how she was slagging Kate off for - get this - having a shower while her period was on?) and a horrible, horrible, horrible drunk. she makes my rage level rise. i really belive that she is a horrible person.

katie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If Jonny is a twat, Jade is a super King-Kong mega mega TWEE-AT.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oops there goes my brain.

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alang: Corbett, Claypole make my point beautifully. Also, as the owner of a particularly foul mouth, the phrase "language, Timothy" has caused me great and repeated pain.

Particularly blast that H. Enfield.

Tim, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm really sorry to go on about this, but i feel i should articulate it fully (apologies to Ronan's brain). it's just Jade is that kind of person that i hate, the kind of people that (for the most part) i seemed to encounter whilst working in essex pubs - shallow and unintelligent yet full of bigoted and narrow opinions ("that's minging!" yells Jade at anything that doesn't come up to her standards, whilist simultaneously conveniently forgetting to LOOK IN THE MIRROR) that they shout and yell about at every available opportunity. the worst combination of daily mail and sun reader imaginable, conservative with a small c, lacking imagination and utterly disapproving of anything that doesn't neatly slot in to their tiny little worldview. ooh she represents so much that i hate.

katie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh don't apologise, you obviously missed me going into detail about PJ/Adele/Lee/why people hate PJ etc etc etc.

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, Tim (oops). i thought they were at least sympathetic.

Alan T, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Henman. Haha sorry Tim.

Ally C, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I dunno, Katie. I mean, I see some of what you're saying but I think a more, um, dialectical approach to Jade is fruitful. A lot of her dubious qualities are kind of to do with an absence of self-reflection; that her (evaluative) sense of what she's like in relation to how she sees the rest of the world is, er, interesting. Creative. THIS IS ALSO HER SECRET POWER. It's also presumably why she's so wildly inconsistent in what she says she thinks (and thinks she says). There's no thread holding one judgement call to the next. It's almost totally reactive. I've never come across someone who inhabits an absolute present so absolutely (Alex is a little bit like this too). Ach in person, I imagine totally compelling looking on.

This isn't actually dialectical. Whatever. Props to mark s, who never needs to spell these things out.

Ellie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one of my friends says that Jonny looks like Spring Heeled Jack.

jel --, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Coda: ON that basis, she can't simply be a narrow minded, hyperconventional Sun-reader because there's no consistent commitment to any position there.

Ellie, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

but what you have described is "the reactionary", which is the stereotype that "Sun readers" usually invokes. cf White Man Van.

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I go away for a week and I come back to find that England were beaten by Brazil and Spencer was voted out of the BB3 house. I'm genuinely more shocked and upset by the (clearly fixed) Spencer boot out.
It's happening again, isn't it? The contestants are being whittled down so that those that remain at the end will be thick, ugly women (Jade, Adele) and bland, non-threatening men (Alex, Alex, Alex).
All of my faves are gone(/going shortly)! I won't have any reason to watch soon. Bah.

Alex must go. As with soap operas and Heat magazine, he's liked only by gays and girls (and students), but his flat, nasel 'Hello, I'm boring' monotone really sets my teeth on edge. Also, his hair is the worst and I hate his big, chunky belt buckle.
Adele must go. She's a body-builder. Doesn't she realise that we can hear her bitch to everyone about everyone else? Contrary to popular belief Big Brother is NOT a game, it's a popularity contest, and those that display signs of playing it like a game become UNpopular wit the voting public.
Jade Must Go. Doesn't she ever fucking shut up?
Tim Must Go. Tim fat but dim. Tiger Tim. Chinless Tim. Like Sunita he's just another charmless, tedious, emotionally stunted, middle class wet. Plus he looks like the love child of Peter Hitchens and Micheal Portillo, though he's probably politically to the right of both those two.

Sophie... Must Stay ('cept she won't, obv). The axis of evil: Alex, Adele, Tim and Jade, hate her so she has my sympathy. Anyone that's an enemy of those poisonous, bitchy bullies gets my support.
Jonny Must Stay. He's alright. At least he isn't a cunt like those on the rich side.
PJ Must Stay. I quite like him now. Replacing Spencer as my fave male. His strong desire to be recognised in the street by fawning members of the public seems to be the only reason he's in the house. He sounds like my cousin anyway, so: thumbs up.
Kate is a goddess. Poor, poor Katy :`( all sad and emotional and vunerable. Sigh. She'll be voted out by jealous girls and dulloes the first chance they get. P'raps it's for the best, then she can drive away to Scotland with Spanky in his car (except they won't cos Spencer is a MEAN MAN and won't have interest in Kate now he's got the chance to shag loads and loads of Spencer-maniacs), oh the humanity.

DavidM, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree with David, alot. PJ has redeemed himself by not bitching about people and by sussing out Adele. Jade is just a twisted little bitch, Helen was nice but thick at least.

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

eh other way round, thick but nice at least.

, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ronan you are besotted admit it

mark s, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How can anyone possibly like Kate?? It's a bit rich saying that "dulloes" will vote Kate out - no surely they would flock to keep her in since she is clearly their kindred spirit! Where is the interest? Where is the personality? She's been in the house thirty days and even the BB producers have struggled to find more than five interesting 'quotes' for Kate on their BB page. At least Sophie is actively annoying sometimes: Kate is just a monstrous nullity, passive-aggressively normal. To the Glasto-goers seeking a word that sums up mediocrity - might I suggest "Katish"?

Tom, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

they have an absence of self-reflection = they are dim!

RickyT, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"=" = "is an unrelated statement to"

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

graham = OTM

mark s, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha that was just a conceptual gag but after i looked upthread to see what rickyt was disagreeing with and actually i *do* agree with graham cuz ellie is quite korrekt => "dim" is a very lame and feeble word for jade's weird disconnected zigzag richness of mental activity (pj and tim ARE dim; kate and sophie ACT dim, basically cuz they're v.standard-issue cuties lookswise, who prior to BB merely smiled or puckered up their way thru life and trouble -> it's why they're both getting so upset at being disliked, because their primary tool for survival, their looks, suddenly doesn't cut it) (to be honest i ADORE the fact that jade announces herself more beautiful than either k or s: U GO GIRL!! fuck the canon!!) (jade probably gets thru life by acting cute too, but her whirlwind of pokemon-porn gurgle-cackles, pouts and grins is TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE OF ORDINARY)

mark s, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, dim is not the best word, but Jade's totally reactionary response to the world around her supported by only a few simple learnt behaviours (eg that fucking cutesy voice) is surely symptomatic of a complete lack of *thought* about anything she does.

RickyT, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no disagreement there: what you see (or HEAR) is what you get!!

mark s, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

People who listen to Bjork records should think long and hard before they criticise Jade's voice. Not that I know whether you do or not, Ricky T!

Tom, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't hate Jade until she started being mean to other people. It's really interesting that societies reaction is "shut up, look at the fucking state of you" as if because she's ugly and annoying she is unable to call any of the others that. But you know currently I think she's so ugly and annoying that she's unable to call the others that.

She is actually just a bit pathetic, Adele doesn't even like her, she's bitching for a bit of attention, and the minute she's nominated she'll be out like a shot.

Can we agree about Adele now? You heard it here first.

Ronan, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PJ finds Jade 1000% fuckable. interesting. or was that just to shut her up?

Alan T, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

1000 percent? That's alot of orifices.

Ronan, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't agree about Adele.

Tom, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I do. I just overheard someone call Jade a 'gimp'. What happened last night, someone?

Emma, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Curses.

Ronan, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hahahaaHA i just re-read the AOTC thread and it had markS saying that he hearted jar-jar! so it is all revealed! (jade = jar jar)

katie, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It was just the nominations last night. And Sophie knows that Jade hates her and now wants to punch her lights out.

jel --, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh and Alex looks really strange without his beard!

jel --, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes if there can be a movie peopled just w.ewoks, then why not JAR JAR'S ADVENTURES IN THE FORBIDDEN ZONE? eh? EH?

mark s, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

On the Jade is not thick campaign, my mate Becka (who is one of the most intelligent, bright, charming, funny people I've met, and not in a Jade way), had no idea where Newcastle is. And she's from BRIDLINGTON.

Graham, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my friend T — who always insists she is not smart but *is* — is AS COMPLETELY HOPELESS AT GEOGRAPHY as anyone i haf evah met

Two yrs ago i drove w.her from London to North Wales (M1-M6-A5), to hook up w.mum and dad. for some reason we were looking at an atlas and the question of the route to wales came up => "we came here through cornwall, didn't we, mark?" said T. Mum burst out laughing, and said "Cornwall! How?" . T laughed also and said, "Well it's here isn't it, on the way" and pointed cheerfully to Yorkshire.

mark s, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

[vent jokingly]Hoi, Ronan you fuckra, you didn't hear it there first (re: Adele) cos you heard it here first. Shove yr "you heard it here"s in a sack, mister and go do yr research. :) [/vent jokingly]

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not to blow my own trumpet, but I guess I see myself as intelligent and I don't even know the name of the main street of my little (pop. 3000) town, I realised I don't know my gran's name, and I don't know loads of other knowledgebased shit. Mark s was more otm than he has ever been when he said "knowledge /= intelligence".

Moral: Jade's lack of geog. nous is NOT sufficient.

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha, gestalt:

Ellie says, and she's sinker's friend right? "I've never come across someone who inhabits an absolute present so absolutely." Sinker says. and he's ellie's friend right? "CONCRETE, so as to SELF- DESTRUCT."

The blind man says, and he's a friend of me right? "I was blind."

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

JADE MUST STAY!!! ha

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jade is unbelievably stupid. The comment about Kate being gross because she took a shower while on her period was mind-boggling.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't you live in America?

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Best comeback EVAH

Graham, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

According to Jade, Jade looks like:

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was common practice in the UK for women to walk around smelling menstrual. Boy is my face red.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't you live in America... how can you see Big Brother, do they show it over there, or do you just read about it on the intraweb which is not ra same, this is all of wot I mean, nothing to do wiv the menstruation of the women?

david h(owie), Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've seen video clips! Er, yeah.

I don't care what spin you put on it, that comment to Adele about Kate was wildly stupid.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

not if she is from another planet, dan

mark s, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, Planet Crotch-Ming.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe they'll just make jade stay in the bb house forever.

jel --, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that why Peter Miller is going to Wiltshire?

Ally C, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

JONNY MUST GO!

Graham, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jade and Tim and Adele will all be up for the chop next week.

Final four: Alex, Jonny, Kate (she's not gonna get nominated by the housemates) and boo-his Jade.

jel --, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

HA HA GRAHAM!

Dan Perry, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i liked kate's "custard round the campfire" thing

mark s, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

JONNY MUST GO!

Graham, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex has been keeping a low profile recently... he's going to win it isn't he? [shoulders sag]

Jade Vs Kate next week I think.

Jade. Must. GO.

DavidM, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"He's just a wanker, isn't he?"

I <3 <3 <3 Adele.

Graham, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know if Adele can withstand all that teabagging.

Is more than one person going out with this vote?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't want to know

(but I'm sure your future employers will, Daniel Perry)

Graham, Tuesday, 2 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
