Neco or neko means "cat" in Japanese. You probably know where the "Ro" comes from -- duh, ROBOT!

I still like the "necrophilia" reading better.

BTW, that IS a creepy-looking robot. Doraemon is much more cuddlier. He is a "cat-like robot from the 22nd century." I like that he's blatantly unnatural -- blue and a self-declared robot. I also like that he's got no ears. I like to think that the yakusa cut them off.
