actually its not

Ron, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yoga and then alcohol following right afterwards works pretty well. Took yoga classes for awhile but after class I was always gripped by the sensation of feeling TOO tranquil and clean and pure - so I would immediately go over to the nearest bar and drank several pints of beer. The same situation arose, I found, after I saw Fugazi ("I feel so idealistic and self-righteous now! Fuck! Time to go get blasted on cheap liquor and weed")

Yeah.

I read this Doctor's book ...he said a glass of wine, meditation...same thing, both healthy.

Yoga with a bottle of Rum.

nathalie, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Geeta is right. Last night I did 1 hr yoga class then went to the pub and drank quite a lot of vodka and I slept like a baby (but then I always do). I think the drinking was more relaxing as the teacher decided to bin the Iyengar bit and go all Astanga on us which was quite exhausting.

Emma, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sleeping like a baby - waking up three times a night crying loudly because you have shat yourself.

(Note - this is a definition of sleeping like a baby, not a description of Emma in one of her very sound sleeps).

Pete, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha Pete is just annoyed cos I slipped into my bouze / yoga induced sleep a good 20 mins before him having sensibly got the swift tube rather than the sluggish bus home.

Emma, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Twenty minutes blissfully spent in the consumption of the Colonels finest (and his chicken gravy).

Pete, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh noo Im a yoga advocate and proud, kind of,I must stand up for its benefits but its not just about instant gratification my lovely grassinsects, its about discipline and effort and wearing lycra and a WORLD OF PAIN. Yes the hurty whuh mummy you cant move in anywhich way that will make it cease I think its broken kind of pain. So for the quick route to constant.pulsating. bliss. booze it up, but dont dance on concrete in heels or have hours of drunk genital smashing sex because pain may ensue.and you will not feel relaxed. Its a risky world.

Some dentists kiss you in your sleep

mike hanle y, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jeskam, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They're very crafty dentists.

Ah, VERY good call Stripey. :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yoga is a better relaxer, but beware of the unacknowledged risk of back and neck injuries. Also: potential to put too much pressue on sinuses during full or partial inversions.

DeRayMi, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't find either relaxing, personally, but my recommendation is to drink loads of alcohol then come round to my place and let me watch you try to do yoga while very drunk.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The man speaks sense. I'd find that, if not relaxing, then certainly a reliever of tension.

Matt, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*blush*

great Love and Rockets song, that.

mike hanle y, Wednesday, 26 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love that this is what passes for the ILE yoga thread.

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 27 April 2003 07:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I prefer cinnamon on a cappucino anyway. heh.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 27 April 2003 07:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Yoga is cool, but then I'm quite flexible anyway. I'm a VISA card, ha! Your flexible friend.

Spaceman Third, Monday, 28 April 2003 04:55 (twenty-three years ago)

okay i'm reading this thread again and have absolutely no idea why i made that post above. i can only assume this was some cross-thread joke lost to the wind sweeping the sands of time.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 28 April 2003 05:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Stripey took what I was gonna say. ;-)

kate, Monday, 28 April 2003 07:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know what kinda yoga y'all do that's relaxing, when I do yoga I sweat like fuck!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 28 April 2003 12:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahhahahaaha.... I have my first yoga class in ages tonight. I went to a friend's graduation party last night, only drank water, and came home early. Girlfriend drank way too much and spent most of the night throwing up. So, yoga wins.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 28 April 2003 13:17 (twenty-three years ago)
