ILX Break

ILX breaks are a good thing! I'd like to take one myself, but probably won't.

I truly admire your willpower and strength of character. I have been attempting to wrench myself away from this message board (and others) and have failed miserably.

I'm thinking about starting a 12-step programme to help those who are similiarly addicted. I've tried wearing a patch, but it was useless.

i can't remember what age i was when i learnt how to lol. but ilx is around that age now

it was about 21 i think, when i stopped listening to emo. so graduate level i'd say ilx is at just now?

Hey y'all, the addictive quality of ilx for me is such that I decided I'm taking a break. Gonna scramble my password and lock myself out. May eventually come back under another email I know but need to at least try to disrupt my habit for a bit.

i took an ilx break between i think 2005 & maybe 2017, i can't claim it had any effect positive or negative on any other aspect of my life

A bit like giving up booze for a while, realizing you didn't feel any better without it so you may as well start drinking again.

I think this is the last corner of the internet I would give up on, and the saddest I would be if it disappeared. Of course, I know this place is different things to different people.

Do what you gotta do, but ILX needs more like map, not less.

i feel complicit! i have a newfound self-respect, i would say, and ilx has helped me find that, as well as like, pink floyd songs. but especially your posts and kate’s about self-therapy and liberation from societal conditioning, etc. i felt like kind of a flunky my whole adult life, like i failed or forfeit everything pretty much. and by sharing you helped cast my history in a very different light, so that looking my accomplishments are staggering. and i see how all my perceived fuck ups secured my freedom and preserved my sanity and integrity, and how all the pain i’m in isn’t a sign that i failed, it’s because that i got myself through some really oppression with little or no support from anyone, and i think maybe i pulled a few others up with me. that is the kind of shit i should be talking about on ilx.
but i usually don’t respond when i want to, because i write slowly and i’m afraid that if i get into it, it will take me all day. and even if i put in the time, i don’t know if i can hit the mark. i just post a goofy band name pun and refresh sna a bunch of times, because i can do that fast. so i feel i have taken out more than i put in. ilx is also frustrating and abrasive in some ways! it takes a lot out of me sometimes to follow along.
