Holy crap, this is all giving me some flashbacks.

Never saw the cartoon, but as a kid I was totally fascinated by the image of a WWII battleship floating in outer space printed in Starlog or something. Will definitely see this.

excited! and glad this is a japanese remake. wave motion gun looks tight of course, the captain looks like the captain is supposed to, and hell yes to the theme song.

wow, that steven tyler song is even more awful than I expected.

A bit of trivia: the ruined spaceship inside which people hide in Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind looks like Yamato - this is supposedly Miyazaki's subtle dig at the militarism inherent in manga/anime series like the original Space Battleship Yamato.
