I had a nice day, did you?

I got a present from my committee, and a card that said, "thank you for being a great manager". I drank a coke at ten in the morning at a meeting, it made me feel awfully chipper.

Also today, I sold my voice to Cadbury's. For their up and coming "Chocolate World", for some interactive whatsit. I didn't have any really good lines, the best thing I got to say was "What! Dude! No way!". But I got paid $100 for it and it only took like, half an hour.

I also got paid for some writing that I did for a photography magazine newsletter thingie.

I went to the optometrist, it was fun. The optometrist was nice, he didn't make me feel like I was failing the seeing test.

him: is that better or worse?
me: worse
him: good, good.

I bought a new top with the Cadbury money, it's pink fleece with a hood, the hood has white lining. The shop lady said, "you should spend your change on a nice coffee and a cake."

from what I have just read on ILE, some people haven't been having nice days. I have bad days quite a lot, so this was a remarkable change. People were just being good to me all day, and it felt great.

If you didn't have a good day, you could talk about it here. it's all about the little details.

rainy, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am having a good day, as I finally got round to taking hayfever tablets and now my hayfever is gone (could be palacebo, I dunno). I listened to Weezer's first album, I like it. I am now eating Cadbury's Fingers. Oh, and I have next week off from work! yay!

(ps Rainy, please email an address if you still wish to use the mindmeld painting)

So far the day's been excellent. Going over some old work and editing it, pottering about and preparing batches of writing to send off. Shortly, however, I have to start my working week. which is less good. However, the thought of rainy saying "What! Dude! No way!" has amused me no end. So cheers for that, nice work if you can get it.

Matt, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am having a mixed day: it has taken me two hours to eat my pret breakfast for example, thanx to silly work interruptions, and then i tht someone had sent me a txt msg, but it was the mobile company telling me i can get wmbldn scores by txt if i want, which i do not

in the office we are discussing bjork

mark s, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it was ok. the same stuff happens to me every day tho.

unknown or illegal user, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah Mark, I agree, it's horrible when you get a spam text!

jel --, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

talking abt bjork != silly work interruptions btw

mark s, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what's a pret breakfast? it sounds fashionable.

rainy, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

today it was beef, parmesan and roquette baguette, vanilla danish, bottle of still water and strong cappuccino, to go please

it is only fashionable in the sense that any sandwich shop is fashionable, eg not particularly

mark s, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You lead such an exciting life Rainy.

I've only just got out of bed.

Queen I am neither Buffy nor the Messiah G, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hello Rainy. I had an okay day apart from putting a tissue through the washing machine with an all-black load of clothes. I don't know where the tissue came from; they seem to just appear in the wash sometimes like black magic. I was cross but it was pretty small potatoes as far as tragedies go.

Tomorrow I'm going to Sydney with Mr Drew for a few days. I'm looking forward to it, but I know I'll be glad I don't live there anymore. It's the most egotistical city in the world I think, always singing its own praises and letting 'celebrities' off drink-driving charges while setting police sniffer dogs onto its less famous citizens. It smells awful and there are too many fireworks displays.

I do think you're a rotter, by the way, but that's a compliment in my neck of the woods.

Nancy Drew, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nancynancynancydrew! Oh I feel your pain with the tissue/black clothes thing. Also fireworks. Is it true that in Queensland it's beautiful one day and perfect the next?

rainy, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Good day I guess. Avoiding the fact that I haven't written anything new by making the old stuff look pretty on my website. Last day of term (though not of work chiz) so saying goodbye to aw bless them overseas students and eating free lunch. Also eating an unexpectedly delicious cheese pastry this morning. (Generally days involving quantities of food turn out to be good.)

Archel, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pretty good day. I did the last part of my 'niveau 5' French exam this morning and I think (hope) I scraped a pass.

Jeff W, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i stayed up talking to a close friend all night after band practice and had a hunch it would be a good idea if i stayed measuredly drunk all day at work and so far my hunch has paid off! i have been nothing but affable with the public and the day has positively flown! (i just had a thought tho': what if my good-natured engagedness has been annoying to ye olde general (but very sparse) public? i hope not. but they should be glad that i'm genuinely interested in their magnificent, crappy lives!)

nancy drew is in QLD too? I smelel an IL* hookup coming on.

QLD is ass mucousy one day, then fucking cold, then a few days later it's tropical. Shame they don't put that in the ad slogans for tourists

Queen I am neither Buffy nor the Messiah G, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

silly work interruptions btw
That only works (heheh) if you have DONE any work.

I haven't. I think I caught some bad in Rotterdam - no, I didn't any space cakes nor visited the red light district. Maybe it's my Uber Ich slapping me around for throwing out a hundred records. Hmmmm. I feel awful though. I hate musick today. I hate feeling so god damn cold and seeing everyone with T-shirts on (and some pants and/or skirt - yes, sometimes AND what is the deal with that fashion hype?).

The strangest thing did happen yesterday (well, I thouhgt it was strange): Read a book on Barthes. Met my friend. Talked about books. She mentioned Bataille. Bought it off her. Paged through it: there was a Barthes addendum in the book. Came home checked email: I received a quote by Barthes (from the Philo.Quote ML).

nathalie, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yes, you seem very sweet Rainy.

Secondly I do feel a bit silly for acting so silly on the board re Marcello. But I do worry. And hope he can work it out.

nathalie, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it just me or does Rainy seem too good to be true? There should be a TV show called "Rainy". I would watch.

mike hanle y, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think a Rainy tv show would remind me of Tin-tin, somehow. I don't remember much of that show though so I can't really say why.

I'm having an all right day. I went running and my legs feel all wobbly because I never exercise, which is a bit entertaining. Then I showered and made macaroni and cheese for lunch (the boxed kind with the macaroni shaped like cartoon characters tastes really good for some reason) and that is about it so far. I'm so happy that it's summer.

Maria, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

All told, I'm having a pretty nice day. There's not much work to be done, so I'm allowed to play with the computer. And the association served up a lunch for the entire group, catered by a good local barbecue joint.

j.lu, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's been lovely so far, a relatively good night's sleep, had breakfast, pissed around on the modern interweb, looking at job sites and this beeyatch. Down to the supermarket for ingredients for Paella, showed someone round the house, watched some tennis, spoke to my Mum, and then later I will cook said paella and hangout at home. Lovely.

chris, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a strange day. I procrastinated, I slept, I procrastinated some more. Then I did my last assignment for the semester and emailed it in 3 hours late! I hope they don't notice. It was pretty good work (esp. the plagarised bit - I couldn't help it! Ctrl+C Ctrl+V was just too easy).

I went to Queensland recently and the weather was quite lovely, in fact it was beautiful one day and perfect the next, or whatever they say, but it was a bit chill in the evenings.

Melbourne is warm in my house due to brand-new gas heater!!!

toraneko, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My day has been pleasant -- reviewing some albums, taking care of some library work, etc. But I am gearing up for my flight to SF tonight, and will be going to the airport straight from work, so hurrah!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am having a terrible day. duckling and i have a gig tonight and all of our sound technicians fell through. i really need cigarettes. where the hell is jason??!! ARGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! do you mind if i kick this computer even though it is not the computers fault? i am feeling violent.

queenoftheharpies, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Today I realized that Douglas Coupland meant more to me then William Shakespeare. Then this saddened me, because Couplnad isnt a very good writer. Then I thought more about Jeff Koons.

anthony, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

di, is yr gig at the crown? what time? I'm coming.

rainy, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i was sitting on the nice outside chair this morning with a cup of tea and a slight hangover, contemplating the drizzle, writing in my girly pink-covered diary, and realised the most exciting thing that's happened all week was finding a copy of a Charlotte Keatly play i quite like and a nice warm beret. ho hum.

petra jane, Friday, 28 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

outofcontrol, Monday, 1 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

rainy, Monday, 1 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

its all good. yeah we played pretty good. poppycock was really nervous cos it was her first gig, but she drummed like champion. lots of people loved duckling's singing.
