Finally got back the full use of my legs, after my second ILE meetup yesterday (Saturday). Made the long trek from the Island in 90 degree weather to The Blind Tiger Ale House in lower Manhattan. Folks, it's small, dark and intimate. Just the place to get away when you want a pint or two....or to get away from home madness.
I was the first one to show at 2:30 PM, which amazed me again. So after planting myself at the door, and reading half of the "Onion", Rosemary showed her face. (Since I'd never met her before, I just took the usual route, and introduced myself.) (grin) I was glad to have someone there who was (nearly) as short as I! Funny and open, I liked her immediately.
Mike Daddino came after in "student casual"; the summer soldier in a black WFMU Tshirt and camouflage shorts. Translation?: "Hey, I'm not suffering for the heat, yo." Good choice. It turns out that Tracer ended up being last in full indie mode: red "Polvo" T-shirt and *gasp* khakis! We all voted to kill some time before heading to DBA, where the main meet would be. So, we grabbed some water, beer or Bloody Marys and cracked jokes on each other for an hour. (OK, so we were escaping the heat and humidity, too;>)
Found a taxi, and shuttled over to DBA, which was all the way over on the West Side. (Thank God, since I hadn't written the directions to this place!)
Pity was, Ally didn't show at all. However, Sean C did; the man of the hour. As did Jimmy (from Brooklyn) and someone else whose name just flew totally out of my head. (Sorry, dude!)
So, we spent the next hour or so sitting in the restaurant/bar's garden area eating Pocky and peanuts, having a drink or two, and just having a good time all round dishing about music and stuff. After a while, there was a decision to hit Kim's Sound and Video (a record store on St. Marks Place). Out we went in the heat, to spend cash to see if we could feed our "music junkie" habit. I couldn't, though Tracer, Sean, and Mike did. (In all fairness, I'll tell you that Sean had already made a purchase, when we'd all met up.)
I think it was after 8 PM, when we finally split. Can't ever go wrong with a good time and a few new faces.
(As this is all down to my memory, you might see the others toss in corrections.)

My apologies, but I was very ill on Saturday, I got home at 6:30 and
went to sleep for a couple hours, but when I woke up to get dressed I
just got very ill and kind of passed out, I didn't wake up til around
10pm eventually, and ended up back to bed a few hours later, I don't
know what happened.
