A damn shame -- but a life well lived.

I should watch Georgy Girl. I've never seen it.

She did seem to be in control of herself, knew what she wanted out of life, and went straight at it.

RIP. Bummer.

Very sad. BTW, Georgy Girl's great - way stranger and more disturbing than I would have thought, and just to hear the wacko "alternate" lyrics to the title song at the end is well worth it.

Not the best month for the Redgrave family.

Nope. So Lynn was 67 and had been fighting cancer for 7 years.

How was that French yeye music movie she did in the late 1960s?

Which movie is that?

She's really funny in Smashing Time. If you are familiar with the "I'm Young" sequence in that flick you have to watch the bit at the end of this clip which shows what inspired the scene.

six years pass...

Rewatched Georgy Girl for the first time in eons last week (35mm print at a Brit New Wave retro), and while I don't want to oversell it, it's indeed more subversive than I recalled. All the four principal actors are good to great (tho James Mason could probably have done his role in his sleep, and Alan Bates' mania occasionally suggests he's trying to play all of the Beatles, or at least John and Ringo). There's an offscreen death i'd forgotten about that's played p well for laughs...

five years pass...

Screened Smashing Time last night...kind of a British Daisies, innit?
