Have you ever been to a retreat? What was it like?

Could you cope with a week or so of solitude? Would you like to?

If the scenery was good, I'd love it -- but I'd desperately need a book or two and an iPod at a certain point.

I have studiously avoided retreats since I realized that post-college retreats with church-related groups are not going to be conducive to wild drunken revelry complete with bumpin' techno parties and kegs. My idea of fun is not watching the conductor tool around in his antique roadster and then saying a prayer.

Is Dan being tortured or aroused? Well, there are people who will pay good sums of money to be tortured in a certain way because they find it arousing. Perhaps I ought to open a dominatrix's dungeon and market it as a very special sort of spiritual retreat. Hair shirts, birches, candles, domineering female attendents dressed in black...hmmm.

anyone gone on any good ones in the uk? non-religious but some yoga or meditation is fine with me....

was thinking about going here http://www.ecoyoga.org/ but it's a bit far away
