How do you wake yourself up in the office?

Tom, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Double espresso. Only way.

Anna, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, but caffeine is evil. ;-) *awaits outraged responses with serenity*

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No, can't stand coffee. Argh.

Tom, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Coke

RickyT, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

rub one out in the bathroom.

Chris, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Given it up. Surely there must be other remedies!

Tom, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tom get some stimulating ayurvedic tea from Clipper (via sainsbury's)!! it's black tea, which i think is yer normal caffieny stuff so yay, but also has coriander and cinnamon and rose in it and it smells wonderful and it NUM a bit like Earl Grey but more y'know exotic. i think you're meant to have it without milk but i put milk (soya obv) in anyway... and iT PERKS YOU UP A TREET!

stop sniggering at the hippy, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Drink as much cold water as you can, as fast as you can.

Michael Daddino, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

btw i must apologise for my dreadful typing today. obviously the tea has not stimulated my FINGERS.

katie, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Walk around shouting loudly. You'll wake yourself up as well as assisting your similarly sleep-deprived comrades.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A brisk walk to the photocopier/another room/anywhere but HERE. Sadly you have to come back eventually. Throwing yourself into a totally trivial debate with co-workers can also work.

Archel, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

a brisk walk to the newsie to buy a mini-milk just pepped me up.

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Try typing naked, Tom. The cool breeze as security chucks you out the front door will help keep you bright and alert, while the abrasions and contusions gained from sliding across the pavement on your chest should focus your mind.

Dan Perry, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Tom I am the same! And I have to hang about as well although I am doing NO MORE proformas they are the DEATH of me. I might go for a bit of shuteye in the ladies loo. I have drunk a bit of water now that has woken me up a bit. I am waiting for CWM to leave to come to the pub whilst I wait for my other pub appointment but seeing as we have a giant press thing to do which they are pissing us abt with god knows...

Sarah, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow Dan that really worked!

Actually I just woke up on my own. ABBA helped.

Tom, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Go for a walk around the building. Look at the clock, and say to myself "come on james, you can do it, stay awake!"...

Or treat it like an Invasion of the Body Snatchers type scenario.

The only person who came into the library today fell asleep...

Can I just take the rest of the summer off?

jel --, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah are you going to the pub, you lucky thing?

Tom, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also THIS! Chicken Wings are NOT for flying is grebt! And another fun thing I just did was to slump my head on the keyboard, see how long it takes for your computer to beep in protest! It is like you haf found the new lost Kraftwerk album cheers cheers.

Sarah, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Play "Cum On Feel The Noize" as loud as you can.

Chris, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

With CWM and then just for a chat. It is a skool night after all (and I are pov heh heh).

Sarah, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

when falling asleep in lectures I've tried nipping my own hand. with my other hand. it barely works and is something which nearly only nearly makes sense to attempt in a desperate-to-be-awake half-sleep.

RJG, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Getting nearly caught out works like a charm I've found.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I used to pop out for a fag (haha Americans) but no longer smoke. Sometimes I get up and stroll around and talk to people, but sometimes I'm too polite or busy, so I generally put a net radio station on too loudly on my headphones.

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 15 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, shouting loudly: the way my father used to keep himself awake while driving alone at night (that and blasting rock radio stations).
