not to be back until August 9th.

And yes, I am certifiably insane... But I'm excited (or panicked, can't tell the difference at this point). Anyway, I'll be travelling through Spain and Portugal, following Radiohead's mini-tour around. I'll be hitting Lisbon, Porto, San Sebastian, and Salamanca. For a total of 11 concerts. In this thread: tips, farewells, suggestions that I get my head checked...

have a top time mel w!!

(tip: don't eat live squid, i read that ppl sometimes choke and die on their besuckered squiggliness)

mark s, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Julio Desouza, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Laugh! Cry! Sing! Dance! Enjoy! Useful phrase: "Excuse me, where might I find Jonny Greenwood's dressing room?" in (google) Spanish is "¿Me excuso, de dónde puede ser que encuentre el sitio de la preparación de Jonny Bosque verde?"

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rock on, Mel! Have tons of fun.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jonny Bosque-verde. Classic! He should do a Latin solo album w/Al DiMeola under that name.

Dare, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What about in portuguese hmm? "Por favor, eu gostaria de saber onde é o camarim de Jonny Greenwood?"

Do u want me to teach jokes on how dumb portugueses are? There are thousands and thousands

vic, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Write down the details so we may live vicariously through you.

bnw, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I plan on bringing a notebook for just this purpose.

Melissa W, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Surely you should be blogging every moment.

Graham, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, or posting here constantly.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

chris, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Try numbers.

Melissa W, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Have fun Mel. I've never followed a group round on a tour - and I'm too old to start now - but I'm sure you can learn a lot abt 'performance' etc.

Andrew L, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh insane is fine. have a good time. don't hurt yourself to the point where it gets uncomfortable though.

Honda, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

don't hurt yourself to the point where it gets uncomfortable though

b-b-b-b-b-but didn't you read? she's following Radiohead around!

chris, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope it's like Almost Famous, except funny and interesting.*

*Okay, my attempt at a lame joke, but Spain and Portugal should be a lot of fun and I hope you have Thom-on-Johnny-action-tastic time.

Nicole, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think dead ants are more funny and interesting than Almost Famous by default. ;-)

Mel will pick on the Spanish style and come back wanting to sing flamenco in a voiced cracked from too much drink and cigarettes. Or not.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BUT SHE WILL BE LISTENING TO JUANES!

vic, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe she'll find Madredeus on tour in Portugal and decide to follow them around instead.

Mel: you must have some gazpacho! And patatas bravas!

Dare, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(I can't believe no one's said: bring back pie.)

bnw, Friday, 19 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

good luck and have a great time!
