So I'm editing this now, wahey! Their dance section I mean. The rock section might be terrible but anyhow it's all about the dance section. I'll be doing an interview with Lottie next week, and I've been getting into lots of stuff for free including the Creamfields launch last night which involved free drink. I'm going to have a mad time with this over the next few months, the interview possibilities while I was away were great but now I'm back and can actually do them.

(I didn't call it BPM, or sorted)

Anyway see what you think of my very original summer hits article.

ronan- if you're looking for people to contribute articles or reviews or whatever i'd be interested...i can't really claim any expert knowledge, but i go to various techno events in dublin fairly frequently, and could probably cover those, plus free parties,etc... let me know if you're interested... cheers, robin

hmmmmm I know I think I could probably wrangle tickets but I'm not sure I can go out that night. It's a fucking shame cos I missed him last time aswell and I think I've been technofied enough since that I might actually get it.

Ronan, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What the hell am I going to ask Lottie?????, making sure I stear clear of "so you're a female dj" style questions. God this is nervewracking, I just got offered Underworld phoners on Monday aswell, what the hell is this tiny little site doing getting all this attention, it's exciting but god I'm terrified.

Ronan, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha what a relief, it was meant to be at 2 but she's on a flight and will do it tomorrow night instead possibly in person which makes it all so much easier, I hate talking on the phone. Still your question suggestions are ever welcome!!!

And for Underworld too, what would you ask Underworld besides "When acclaimed thinkers like Dan Perry and Ned Raggett unite in support of your work, does it make all the bad times worthwhile?". I appreciate any help here alot.

Ronan, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lottie - did you ditch hard house for normal house because of the fashion, the money or the drugs?

Underworld - it would be interesting to hear which groups and artists they felt they were similar with *musically*. Too often the focus on their use of vocals seems to obscure their deliberate and intriguing arrangement choices.

Tim, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha Tim I had "At the beginning of your career you supported Brandon Block and Alex P for some time, now you're nicknamed "the first lady of bugged out", when did you change your mind?"

But I wasn't going to ask it really.

Ronan, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you need to ask any other question to Underworld than the excellent one you have already phrased? I think not!

(Ask them if they have any fans who think the late eighties version of the band was the best.)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lottie: there's the whole relationship with one of the Kahuna brothers.

She won best new DJ at the Dancestar Awards recently, despite having been around for years.

She likes Pulp, she was stood next to me at last year's Homelands and knew all the words.

Anna, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Underworld: the standard one at the moment would be how do they think their sound has changed/ they have changed/ their shows have changed etc since the departure of Darren Emmerson.

Look at their contempories, the other big early nineties live daance acts: Leftfield have split up, The Prodigy have turned into cartoon versoins of themselves and their new (very rock sounding) album was way behind schedule, Orbital are still playing exactly the same (admittedly good) set they have for years.

You could go into their design work if you wanted to.

Anna, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lottie went well, she was very nice and it wasn't too hard, though I was dead nervous and at one point she said she played Pacha last wednesday and I was like "oh the opening?" and then "NO IT'S JULY RONAN oops sorry". Also I asked about the Kahuna relationship thing when she said they were her favourite live band and I was like "oh so is it true you're going out with one of FC Kahuna" and she said "well yeah it's been 5 years so I think there's no question of rumours". Other than that it all went ok, though I listen to the tape and think I sound like a twat, I presume this is normal.

Ronan, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You should have told them about the rival design group also called Tomato but actually pronounced toe-may-toe. (NB, i made this up)

Alan T, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh I haven't done Underworld yet, possibly tomorrow or Wednesday, still waiting for confirmation. If I was nervous for Lottie lord knows how I'll be for Underworld.

Ronan, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate transcribing tapes because I always sound like a bimbo twat of the highest order. Eg:

Sasha (after heaping praise on John Digweed): Oh God, people are going to think we're a couple after all that.

Me: (joking)Well if there's anything you'd like to tell me about that ...

Sasha: Oh I don't think there's ever been any doubt about my sexuality darling.

(Do I tell him off for being a cheesy bastard? Do I stay silent and move on to the next question? What I actually did, and only noticed when I played the tape back, was ...)

Me: (giggles like a bimbo) Really? (practically starts purring) Well I suppose there's ony one way of really knowing (bimbo giggle, sound of eyelashes batting).

WHAT? That can't have been me, I was abducted by aliens who replaced me with some cheesy jockey slut.

Anna, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

AND? AND? Did you score or WHAT? You can't just leave off there.

Graham, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There is a joke about prog djs and djing for ten hours eh? somewhere here. We need one of those lights that's in Batman with Dan's initials on it or something.

Ronan, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(I restarted my blog, and I realise how much fun it is, wahey)
