i can't believe PINK is coming here!

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm sooooo excited!

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am there! Shelley and Cat and Cats daughter Flame and Motty and Jase and Clayton have also expressed intense interest. Tickets go on sale Monday. Dunedin is really not shiny enough for PINK but we will show her our love.

ducklingmonster, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh Di! I really really want to come!

rainy, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am shiny enough! i will wear LUREX! wow, it'll be an EVENT, such an EVENT that i am WRITING like STARRY SARAH! COR!!

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes yes yes! everyone come! can anyone tell me if its true that pink is a dyke?

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sigh... Hey guess what Tetuzi Akiyama and Toshimaru Nakamura are coming to Dunedin!

hamish, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

so di, i guees to dunedin this a EVENT comparable to when Ricky Martin came to my town(it was before he went english, but was a EVENT anyway)?

P.S. to rainy: i tried to send you a song but your email was too full

Chupa-Cabras, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why is she coming here? i don't understand. is she going to Ashburton as well?

hamish, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why do you think she's coming here? to fuck ME of course! haha! check it out, there is no auckland date on the poster, perhaps she's not even going there. thats pretty wierd.

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I wonder if I should get a job at the ODT, and then maybe we could get backstage passes and such!

Chupa, my email is fifty percent full of stuff from Korin, I can never delete any!

rainy, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, I just got terrified that this whole pink coming to Dunedin thing will all just be a hoax, a cruel joke...

rainy, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

backstage passes wow! that would make stalking her so much easier.

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Now if only she had more than one song to like. *escapes Di's wrath with a wink*

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hey chupa its just like that.

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

but ned she does! "there you go", "most girls", "get the party started". theres three. and i haven't even heard her albums.

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Di, we should have a party beforehand, and drink pink champagne!

rainy, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*bows* But I only like "Get This Party Started," whose splendiferousness I shall not deny. The rest confirms me to be an evil smelly rockist against The Pop, partially since that new album mostly came from a Very Evil Smelly Rockist, Ms. Linda Perry, whose wretched influence I battle at all costs, but whose fiendish powers have consumed me whole in the process.

(More seriously -- never saw anything from the first album as being more than anonymously sung bleh, some nice intros aside; Tim and I have argued on this point before.)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pink champagne I say! And like, all pink food and wearing fishnet stockings on the arms and what you will!

rainy, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

rainy, that will get the party started. pink never struck me as an anonymous singer, the first time i heard "there you go" i sat up straight in my chair and yelled "i love this woman!". she spits the words out with soo much more attitude than any other current pop singer i can think of. then when i saw the video of "most girls" with that woman singing sopranolike at the end with the spikes around her neck, such a wonderful camp touch, i thought my heart would burst!

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It really is a case of personal taste, I realize! :-) Trust me, I hope you have a great time at the show, and I'm sure you will. I am just a crab on certain points. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"smelly rockist"

Ned are you adapting "smelly indie" for your own personal villains?

Chupa-Cabras, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes indeedy ned. :-) i don't know anything about linda perry except that she was responsible for that abominable song "whats going on" many years ago.

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It is a beautiful and good term, Chupa, and I will always honor you as the creator of it. Thus the language is enriched. :-)

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, she's a bit of a case, Ms. Perry...personally I think she's turning into the modern Diane Warren, but that's a long and separate story. Suffice to say she works with Pink, Christina Aguilera and Courtney Love these days, but based on the results of these collaborations so far (pretty much the new Pink album at this point), I have The Fear.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am also aph34red now.

di, Saturday, 20 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

argh argh argh! i will be GONE by november! & they have put posters up & everything! it would have been the BEST GIG EVER (especially if it was held at Arc)

Ess Kay, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah if it was at arc probably even i'd go.

unknown or illegal user, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

She also has "Don't Let Me Get Me" and "Just Like A Pill" and lots of stuff from a couple of years ago.

I really like the video to "Just Like A Pill", although I was a bit disappointed than it was a man's tummy that she was licking instead of a woman's.

toraneko, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't like "don't let me get me".

di, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

DONT LET ME GET ME RAWKS (is still the worst video in the history of time but the song is grate)

vic, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ess-kay you are leaving us? WHY??!!

di, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I only know "get this party started" which I don't like, but I think I could like her other stuff, so someone will have to play it for me or tell me about it. I wish it was Nelly Furtado coming. But then probably no-one would want to come with me

halo halo, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i would go see nelly furtado with you!

di, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rumour has it that we Aucklanders get Pink AND Shakira (and Shaggy) (and, um, Enrique) all on one night! So there.

B-Rad, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well thats okay, cos i don't like shaggy or enrique. shakira would be pretty fun to see though, it'd be just like that pepsi ad where the entire venue copies her ass-shaking!

di, Sunday, 21 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They showed her concert on TV this week. "Elv-rybody's dancing and they're dancing for me". I which I could come.

Graham, Thursday, 25 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm, Shakira. also, that 'don't let me get me' is pussy softrock crap. but not as bad as that new Tommy Lee song/video. that has to be the WUSSIEST THING EVER my god it sucked! was this the same chap who did 'smoking in the boys room'??! oh dear...

petra jane, Thursday, 25 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

di & I live with Shakira himself...unfortunately he hates his music so we don't really get to see it but sometimes I see him practising those great hip swivels when he thinks no-one is watching.

halo halo, Thursday, 25 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

P ! N K

ducklingmonster, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i live with shakira too, remember. he seemed awfully interested in enrique's virginity tonight.

di, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You mentalists! Why has Pink gone from 'Get Ver Party Started' to some kind of sub-Alanis drawl? Don't Let Me Get Me - is that what that other song was really called ha ha how rub. Her latest song is about running as I recall.

PINK: "hooray chart success at last, but look at my blonde hair, the disaffected youth will never love me at this rate"
RECORD LABEL: "madonna looked like a goth once, why don't you do that, and we can put a ferret down yr throat to strangle yr vocal chords so you sound like every other yankee angstee rock-chick"
PINK: "woo-ha!"
....
PINK: "nyaaaaaaaagagahahhhhhhhhhhhhH"
VER KIDS: "heavengs this is DIRE wot of S Club Juniors eh"

Sarah, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ooo ooo! Pink is starting to sound like Alanis, and singing about running? now I'm interested

halo halo, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's bobbins and certainly not as good as Kate Bush singing about Running Up That Hill. It just full of goths.

Sarah, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

okay. goth elements is a turn-off. I wish I knew Pink's earlier songs. I'm going to watch some music video telly tonight so who knows maybe they'll play Kittie and Pink and have a krautrock special or something

halo halo, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oooh liz i will dig out my old p!nk video clips when i get home for you. sarah i would prob be happier if s club were coming here but nobody international ever plays in dunedin so you take what you can get. besides, p!nk might be a dyke! and "most girls" is soooo great!

di, Friday, 26 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

four months pass...
