Big win for Cork, they've been a long time in the wilderenews. Good potential for this years championship to be open. The usual suspects, Cork and then Galway who are league champs, Waterford too

At some point in the four day battle the Fir Bolgs took the time to challenge the Tuatha De Danann to a game of hurling, three times nine Fir Bolgs played against a similar number of Tuatha De Danann, many Tuatha were killed

thats the fuckin stuff for them lads

Timely revive! I've just read abt Sétanta/Cú Chulainn yesterday, slaying the vicious hound of Culain w/ a hurling ball.

Galway v Clare semi final yesterday was an absolute belter. A draw after the end of extra time and the replay is on next Saturday. Draw was a fair result

Limerick v Cork today. I think Limerick will just about shade it, at least I hope they do

. (Michael B), Sunday, 29 July 2018 12:00 (five years ago) link

And they did! Has there ever been a Limerick vs Clare/Galway final before?

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 30 July 2018 07:23 (five years ago) link

Limerick v Galway in 1980 apparently

. (Michael B), Monday, 30 July 2018 07:59 (five years ago) link

I think Limerick will do it this year, theyve got a strong squad, subs that came on against Cork made a big difference. Galway not as great as I had previously assumed. Clare gave them a lot of gifts in that first half to make them look good.

I got those O'Muircheartaigh quotes fwded to me the other day, kind of a tonic as I got mad love for Sid Waddell still but his classic work is all in decades long gone

Some fun thing to say in the pub while supping on a pint to seem knowledgeable:

- any reference to “wristy hurling”
- “of course that fella didn’t have an arse to his trousers when I was watching him play u21”
- “ah sure it’s like watching the fucking ploughing”
- “clash of the ash” you can only say this unironically if you’re ten drinks in OR Pat Spillane
- “Henry Shefflin isn’t that great”
- “personally I thought DJ (Carey) was better in those mastitis ads than he ever was in the noughties
- “ah you’d be glad to see THEM* get bet all the same, wouldn’t you”

I will update with more as they come to me, I was born the same year as my county won the all Ireland though so you can trust me definitely

* them usually refers to Cork/Dublin/Kilkenny but can also refer to your local rivals from ten yards down the road
