I was actually going to start this before Adam started the happy thread, funnily enough.
Everyone's frighted of obvious things like spiders/bugs, heights, flying, confined spaces. But what about the more bizarre things?
I thought about this the other day as I was walking by a building demolition near work, by which was a GIANT crane, overhead, moving around. I became so consumed with terror that it would tip over and fall on me that I almost broke into a run to get past it.
I have the same thing with going over bridges; I'm afraid they'll collapse as I'm crossing them. Or if its windy, we'll get blown over the side.
And I have this weird recurring dream thing that if I stare at helicopters or planes, I'll make them fall out of the sky and crash, so I'm a bit weirded out by that too (more so in my dreams than IRL tho).
I'm sure plenty of us here have some weird fears and phobias!

Although it's relatively hard to break a collarbone, I live in constant fear that it will happen to me someday just by doing something routine. I don't even like people to touch my collarbones. I don't even like to touch them myself.

On windy nights, I have to close all the windows, and I can't sleep. Between the Wizard of Oz and Cyclone Tracy I am terrified of hurricanes/cyclones/tornados and wind storms of any description. Just the sound of the wind beating against the windows is enough to put me in the fetal position.

I have to close the closet door when I sleep. I have tried sleeping with it open just to see what happens but I wig out and have to close it. Because, you know...monsters!

Oh, I LOVE windstorms and bad weather in general. I've always wanted to go tornado chasing one summer. xp

I'd probably break my collarbone, though.
lol.
I got so much shit for Cyclone Tracy.

When I was younger I was paranoid about seeing weird things out my window at night, this just furthered that paranoia.

Oh and kites. I have a genuine irrational fear of kites. Even seeing one unassembled in a box in a shop makes me nervous.

train to work stopping in the tunnel between stations. this is the closest i get to actually having a panic attack, it takes a lot of willpower not to put my face in my hands and start moaning to myself. i have no idea why it scares the shit out of me, i'm not even particularly claustrophobic.

Just bought three new bookshelves in part because I was worried that the overloaded ones I already have might be too heavy for the floor. Whenever I started thinking about it, the small house creaks would make me think "oh shit, here it comes!"It didn't actually feel irrational to me, but when I mentioned it to people they'd snort!Thankfully, getting most of the double or triple-depth layers off and into new shelves did the trick.
AA: Tinnitus isn't so bad, at least as long as you don't get the crazy stuff that sounds like you're being followed by street cleaners.

I have irrational fears of snapping my elbow after placing my hand down on a table too strongly, and also my testicles receding into my stomach.

i'm gonna call a preemptive shut the fuck up on the first "clowns" response. like, why does everybody engage in this stupid affectation that clowns, as a conceit, are scary –- and then 'prove' their response with a picture of a terrifying, sad, pathetic clown? like, funny clowns are funny, sad clowns are sad, and you know what is scary? scary clowns, not /every/ clowns.

Having someone skate across my arm and open up an artery (this happened to a kid I went to high school with...it's irrational, because I go skating approximately once every two or three years).

it might be the photographer's fault! We did white family matching clothes beach once as a family and were told to dress in that scheme.

I have an irrational anxiety about strong wind, especially if it howls. I get this sensation like I'm going to be picked up off the ground.
I've also always had extreme anxiety looking at tilt-a-whirl type rides. The one that gets me the most is the spinning one with the swings that fan out.

that photo was literally just the first one i found that looked vaguely like the ones i find creepy -- there is a cult vibe but when i think about what the cult is all i come up with is "big white family"
i was afraid of wind for a long time because of this song. i had this record as a kid, right around the time i was hearing the three little pigs story and learning not to build using flimsy materials
