"Jon Arbuckle, two!"

frogbs, Thursday, 9 February 2017 21:47 (nine years ago)

just dumped 12 new videos, holy shit. gonna have to sit down and watch 'em all but thus far what I've seen has been nuts, like 5x the production values of the last ones, idk where the hell they got the money to produce all this. some of them are incredibly R-rated. one of them is an hour long.

this one, based on Kraftwerk's "Home Computer" made me laugh a lot

I dunno what to say, kind of in shock right now

frogbs, Thursday, 23 February 2017 20:41 (nine years ago)

4:13:14 is great too, this guy just goes on and on and on

just noticed that the clock and the amount of sunlight outside keeps going throughout the entire video

amazing that they put that all together in 2 weeks

I'm pretty freaked out by all this, in general

frogbs, Thursday, 23 February 2017 22:00 (nine years ago)

haha frogbs I agree this is cool and funny stuff but your mind seems a little overly blown, no? I only watched the kraftwerk one so far...

Evan, Friday, 24 February 2017 00:13 (nine years ago)

the long ones are pretty freaky tbf

ciderpress, Friday, 24 February 2017 00:19 (nine years ago)

Looking forward to it

Evan, Friday, 24 February 2017 00:20 (nine years ago)

i thoroughly enjoyed the pipe one though

ciderpress, Friday, 24 February 2017 00:23 (nine years ago)

NIN one from the first batch is still my favorite by far

ciderpress, Friday, 24 February 2017 00:24 (nine years ago)

I see your catbrush and raise you this

haha frogbs I agree this is cool and funny stuff but your mind seems a little overly blown, no?

watch the last 7 minutes of the sex survey video and get back to me

frogbs, Friday, 24 February 2017 01:51 (nine years ago)

if you search around, the fatalfarm guys know or include this guy who did the lasagna cat music videos and seems to do this work in his spare time http://www.dlew.me
afaik they've also used that brand to collaborate with other sites, so the funding is probably sporadic

the sex survey video took me a second until I looked at the video length and understood

mh 😏, Friday, 24 February 2017 02:36 (nine years ago)

I honestly thought you guys were getting a little ahead of yourselves in your effusiveness wrt something that was probably amusing but ultimately a little dumb but I'm twenty minutes into the pipe video and the scales have fallen from my eyes. Just...wow.

The Flautist of Flatus (Old Lunch), Friday, 24 February 2017 02:47 (nine years ago)

just got done watching the whole thing and I don't regret it one bit

done in one take too, god damn

frogbs, Friday, 24 February 2017 02:55 (nine years ago)

so the Miami Vice one is a shot-for-shot recreation of a scene from the show, b/c of course it is

frogbs, Friday, 24 February 2017 14:43 (nine years ago)

didn't realize it til someone pointed it out, but the weird dancing animation at the end of the 12/20/1996 vid is a recreation of the "Colin's Bear Animation" vid from like a decade ago, because both end with "thanks for nothing"

also in "things that probably everyone else already knew," the pipe monologue guy is Drew Barrymore's brother, who seems to have a depressing story

Devilock, Friday, 24 February 2017 17:43 (nine years ago)

oh right, youtube comments exist so this has been extensively covered

anyway this is all quite bonkers

Devilock, Friday, 24 February 2017 17:47 (nine years ago)

I did not know that! I was very impressed with the twenty minutes of unbroken performance I'd seen from him thus far, though, so learning that he's a Barrymore makes sense. Acting and tragedy are in the blood, it would seem.

The Flautist of Flatus (Old Lunch), Friday, 24 February 2017 17:48 (nine years ago)

Youtube comments are pretty essential here. how else could you get a translation of all the Japanese in the Shampoo Fantasy video?

del griffith, Saturday, 25 February 2017 03:58 (nine years ago)

one really must wonder what Jim Davis thinks of all this (outside of "wait, are you the guys who called my house?")

frogbs, Monday, 27 February 2017 15:40 (nine years ago)

he's got to be somewhat aware, right? kind of amazed there's no copyright lawsuit

mh 😏, Monday, 27 February 2017 15:43 (nine years ago)

Youtube comments are pretty essential here

literally the only time (outside of Sad YouTube of course) that this has ever been true

"11/19/1979" This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Paws, Incorporated.

ruh-roh - normally these would get taken down (or muted) because of the song choices

frogbs, Monday, 27 February 2017 21:31 (nine years ago)

btw, here's another cool thing about the Sex Survey video - the mannequins gradually get more and more messed up over time. skip around a bit and you'll see what I mean. by the end every single one has messed up, distorted faces.

frogbs, Monday, 27 February 2017 21:32 (nine years ago)

trying to figure out if I've had the correct number of sexual relationships in triangulation with lasagna cat data

can I just date lasagna cat

...not really a hidden detail, was it?

BTW the ending was indeed nuts! Much more than I would have ever expected. Especially given it's on youtube (for now).

Evan, Monday, 27 February 2017 21:58 (nine years ago)

two weeks pass...

http://nerdyshow.com/2017/03/nerdy-show-interview-fatal-farm-returns-to-lasagna-cat/

Hour-long interview with the guys who made this. Dunno if anyone wants to hear this but there are some pretty interesting takeaways

-They did the "Pon de Floor" and "Keep it Going Louder" videos for Major Lazer (first time I saw the former my first thought was "this looks like Lasagna Cat", guess I know why now)
-Apparently their Infinite Solutions "Google TV" video was so convincing that people at Microsoft held an emergency meeting about it, until someone told them it was a hoax.
-The original idea was to bring back Infinite Solutions, but they figured Nathan For You was doing that sort of humor already so they scrapped it.
-As suspected most of the Lasagna Cat stuff had been done for years, but they were nervous about releasing it because they felt like it didn't build on the first series. The plan was to make it even more elaborate but apparently it eventually got to them that so many people around them thought what they were doing was stupid.
-The hardest part of the sex survey was apparently keeping the clock in sync the whole time
-The whole pipe strip was done in one take
-They spent weeks searching through Garfield strips looking for the phrase "Thanks for nothing" so they could do the Colin's bear animation

Daniel_Rf, Thursday, 11 February 2021 11:32 (five years ago)

despite watching these dozens of times I just now realized that in the re-enactments the colors and lines in the background shift as they do in the comic strip

frogbs, Thursday, 11 February 2021 17:06 (five years ago)

four years pass...

just watched the pipe strip one again, genuinely one of the greatest acting feats I have ever seen, to do that all in one take without breaking, also the fact that it's basically one joke for 60 minutes and is watchable the whole way through, crazy crazy shit
