I just learned of this hilarious fellow:

What a loon!

thirdalternative, Saturday, 22 October 2011 17:05 (twelve years ago) link

Oh wow! He's totally classic and fully believes in his various delusions. He has just recently been saying that the moon is an artificial satellite that beams an augmented reality 'invisible light' sort-of thing down to Earth to control what we perceive. You tend to only get that kind of insight from tweakers, and they tend to present their findings much less coherently IMO.

Great Fushigi Master (Viceroy), Saturday, 22 October 2011 17:51 (twelve years ago) link

yeah, this dead-eyed anti-semite who rakes in cash from the hapless and gullible is classic, no doubt

Two Noble Klinsmenn (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 22 October 2011 17:52 (twelve years ago) link

Is he well-known in the UK? Looking up his books and customer reviews on Amazon . . . he actually seems to have quite a fanbase. Wow. Just . . . totally certifiable.

thirdalternative, Saturday, 22 October 2011 17:57 (twelve years ago) link

I heard an interview with Billy Corgan where he talks about humans having "reptile brains." Maybe he's an Icke devotee?

thirdalternative, Saturday, 22 October 2011 17:58 (twelve years ago) link

I've never understood this "British reptilian illuminati = JEWS" thing. Seems like a pretty elaborate and ridiculous dog-whistle, I just assume Icke is actually talking about aliens and perception filters and is crazy. But I have had trouble reading racist/nationalist subtext underlying other conspiracy stuff before so I may just be hapless and gullible.

Great Fushigi Master (Viceroy), Saturday, 22 October 2011 18:02 (twelve years ago) link

This was the first inkling of his mania in the UK.

Oh dear... please pardon my hapless gullibility and lack of a thorough investigation into the guy.

Great Fushigi Master (Viceroy), Saturday, 22 October 2011 18:31 (twelve years ago) link

Is there a conspiracy theorist anywhere who doesn't have it in for the Jews?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 22 October 2011 18:37 (twelve years ago) link

xp

yeah well i'm not blaming u for not knowing about the guy, imo the less anybody gives a shit about him the better. just wanted to let people know he's not exactly a loveable loon.

Two Noble Klinsmenn (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 22 October 2011 18:55 (twelve years ago) link

icke is kinda boring imo. a lot of his shit is just a mashup of conspiracy stuff (illuminati, reptilian aliens, anti-semitic bs) that's been around forever.

lagerfeld of modern despots (latebloomer), Sunday, 23 October 2011 03:33 (twelve years ago) link

i think basically he had a nervous breakdown, happened to catch a re-run of 'V' one day, and that was his road to damascus moment

lagerfeld of modern despots (latebloomer), Sunday, 23 October 2011 03:39 (twelve years ago) link

There's another thread somewhere here about him right? I recall reading there about his breakdown and how he used to be a sports presenter... wasnt Alan Partridge's character somewhat based on him?

Trayce, Sunday, 23 October 2011 03:42 (twelve years ago) link

Haha sorry to use my powers of necromancy for evil but IIRC he was your run of the mill ex-footballer turned presenter who didn't just have a "break," but that over a period of a year or so he dissolved into what appears to be paranoid schizophrenia - he talked about being followed by shadowy 'things' and hearing voices and all that. Then he decided to get it all figured out by going to some "shaman" and doing Ayuhaca (sp?)... which really sort of ended his agreement with common reality from then on and he decided his symptoms were spiritual gifts.

Oh and I guess he's still a dumb-fuck hooligan anti-semite. I feel now, looking into his earlier years, that if he hadn't turned into some kind of crazy techno-theosophist conspiracy talk circuit guy he'd probably be a spokesman/organizer for the EDL, or I guess if he's too old for that now, the BNP.

Of course, he could have kept his crazy and stupid beliefs to himself and continued to be a sports presenter - but obs. he's too much of a narcissist for that.

some egregious ellipsis abuse going on there. must be some kind of defence against the reptoids.

bizarro gazzara, Tuesday, 25 September 2012 15:56 (eleven years ago) link

a friend of mine works for the company that produces Total War. I've warned him that Icke is out to get him.

Arvo Pärt Chimp (Neil S), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 15:58 (eleven years ago) link

Early start to that gig, probably wants to get cracking before the reptilians can get their blood warmed up.

DJ Mooncup (NickB), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 16:00 (eleven years ago) link

that or reptilians are too shattered after booze, birds and bantuh on friday evenings

A.R.R.Y. Kane (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 16:03 (eleven years ago) link

Thinking that the "where are we?" part might be slightly redundant? Says it on the poster Dave.

DJ Mooncup (NickB), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 16:07 (eleven years ago) link

He kind of looks like Englebert Humperdinck on that poster.
And this show is 9 hours long. 9 HOURS.
Is it really going to be at Wembley Arena? Or just in a small room at Wembley Arena? Like the computer fair they used to have at The Oval cricket ground except that it wasn't, it was in a room somewhere within The Oval cricket ground.

a great poke for Jet Set Willy (snoball), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:39 (eleven years ago) link

I read Tales From the Time Loop, which started out pretty silly and batshit, then went into some actually really interesting sections on the first Gulf War and the fall-out, then back into reptilians land. Towards the end of the book he reveals that he learned all this from psychedelic mushrooms or something and the eyerolling i had kept under wrap til then just became unleashed.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:39 (eleven years ago) link

there probably are enough Ickeonauts to do Wembley Arena, but the Segway parking is gonna be brutal

syntax evasion (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:40 (eleven years ago) link

I bet the reason that it's a 9 hour show is to flush out any reptilians who'll be there - they can't maintain human form for more than 6 hours, you know...

a great poke for Jet Set Willy (snoball), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:42 (eleven years ago) link

just serve bags of flies at the bar imo

it's not fair really cos when Brian Yuzna compared the 1 percent to shape-shifting monsters in Society i thought he was bang on but when Icke does it i just rmde

So awesome that he said this.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:44 (eleven years ago) link

it's strange he seems to be enough in his senses to make a good living off this shit

syntax evasion (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 25 September 2012 17:45 (eleven years ago) link

three years pass...

At the heart of his theories lies the idea that a secret group of reptilian humanoids called the Babylonian Brotherhood (including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson and Boxcar Willie) controls humanity, and that many prominent figures are reptilian.

He was just on This Week w/ Andrew Neil, Portillo and John 'Big Issue' Bird. Save the BBC.

http://garethicke.com/

Gareth Icke is a singer/songwriter, author, personal trainer & former international beach soccer player based in Derby, England.

Gareth is currently writing his forth album. It’s set to be recorded in 2018, and will be a break from his normal 4 piece band sound, in favour of a more stripped back, almost Celtic sound.

His third album, 3, was released in June 2016. To buy a copy, click here.

In 2016/2017 Gareth performed the record across the Globe, with shows in the USA, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Holland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, and the UK.

The album was played for the first time at the O2 Brixton Academy in London.

It is received great interest because it was recorded in the frequency of 432hz instead of the usual 440hz.

There's a like-father-like-son thing going on, so you're might be on to something there.

I'm Finn thanks, don't mention it (fionnland), Thursday, 5 April 2018 12:55 (six years ago) link

that article is batshit

With their support, and with the reminder that the British were heavily in debt to their banks, the Illuminati sponsored Goebbels to promote the adoption of the 440 Hz standard by the British Standards Institute which would apply to all musicians playing in Europe. This measure reluctantly passed in 1939 despite being three months after Hitler invaded Poland. Technically, Germany had started WWII and was an axis of Britain, but this had little impact on their ultimate decision.

During and after WWII, 440 Hz became widely used and has become the modern standard tuning for all music. This is where we stand today. But what was the significance of 440 Hz? A more interesting question is why was 432 Hz, the intuitive tuning frequency used since the inception of music in humanity, so undesirable to the Rockefellers, Rothschilds (Illuminati) and Nazis?

so basically i was accidentally otm about 432hz revealing the true form of the (((reptilians))) or whatever

he's GOLD on Twitter right now. I hope he doesn't get kicked off, his feed is hilarious

Paul Ponzi, Monday, 13 April 2020 14:32 (four years ago) link

I just had a look, 272K followers on twitter, 840K on youtube. I'm surprised, thought he would have more than that. Its still a lot, but he seems more popular than ever

Censoring the 5G stuff seems weird though, is it actively harmful if some people are into that?

anvil, Monday, 13 April 2020 15:05 (four years ago) link

It's not really about harm, just the perception of being responsive to government/public concerns. I assume they'll have decided that the cost to them of closing that stuff down is worth it to avoid unwanted scrutiny from legislators.
