it's medjool dates vs. figs for me

nostormo, Monday, 6 February 2012 11:59 (twelve years ago) link

i am pro-dried fruit in general and would enjoy pretty much any of these but i'd be lying if i voted for anything but the ever-obvious raisins

some dude, Monday, 6 February 2012 12:00 (twelve years ago) link

raisins are boring. they are the mainstream of the dried fruits

nostormo, Monday, 6 February 2012 12:03 (twelve years ago) link

The best dates (Medjool, etc) are unbelievable.

If we're talking basic supermarket stuff, pineapple.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Monday, 6 February 2012 13:05 (twelve years ago) link

Apricots in a heartbeat.

beachville, Monday, 6 February 2012 15:53 (twelve years ago) link

Between apricots and figs for me. Raisins obv are the most versatile, but sort of plebian bcz of that.

Aimless, Monday, 6 February 2012 18:34 (twelve years ago) link

dried bananas. i sort of hate a lot of dried fruit in general. e.g. mango is my favourite fruit but i hate dried mango. even dates that i do like i can't eat more than one or two or they start to taste sickly to me.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Monday, 6 February 2012 18:37 (twelve years ago) link

Mangos with chili powder or bananas with chili powder, but I'll go with prunes

You bastard, you forgot dried cherries.

Apricots, then.

one little aioli (Laurel), Sunday, 12 February 2012 15:18 (twelve years ago) link

I've never had dates or figs, though, fyi, except in Fig Newtons. They kind of look like cockroaches, which puts me off.

one little aioli (Laurel), Sunday, 12 February 2012 15:19 (twelve years ago) link

Prunes. But biting down on stone fragments that v occasionally remain in stoned prunes is dud.

woof, Sunday, 12 February 2012 15:38 (twelve years ago) link

c'mon! cherries! Voted pleb raisins.

owenf, Sunday, 12 February 2012 16:48 (twelve years ago) link

cranberries are pretty great dried too.

owenf, Sunday, 12 February 2012 16:49 (twelve years ago) link

Tempted to lock this thread in 7 hours because the lack of cherries is too much of an outrage.

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Sunday, 12 February 2012 16:50 (twelve years ago) link

peaches vs. calymyrna figs for me. i freakin' love dates though. and thank you for not listing "craisins", a marketing name gimmick that drives me...bananas

epigram addict (outdoor_miner), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:47 (twelve years ago) link

Apricots.

A best tinned fruit poll would definitely go to peaches for me.

Dried cherries can be a touch too bitter sometimes.

White 'Poop' Jesus (snoball), Sunday, 12 February 2012 21:04 (twelve years ago) link

I've never seen dried cherries. Are they common?

Inevitable stupid samba mix (chap), Sunday, 12 February 2012 21:15 (twelve years ago) link

I like 'em sour.
