Actually I think I remember some bonehead saying it about PRINCESS DIANA DYING!

I've heard some Irish commentator saying it of the Omagh bombing (and maybe saying that in proportional terms the Omagh bomb was worse.
Dud, but so is "9/11 is the worst thing to ever happen to anyone ever", IE it's the comparising that's the dud factor.
yes. otm. The whole idea of hierarchies of suffering is a bit dodge.
having said that, I like the idea of referring to things I don't like as the 11/9 of whatever category they fall into (e.g. 12" remixes).
