Typical reactionary propaganda, trying to smear a revolutionary movement that would've had a real chance of success if not for meddling anti-communist cold warriors! So what if it got a bit harsh sometimes, nobody said building a new society was easy! I just hope that this blatant slander of the Khmer Rouge doesn't discourage too many people from carrying on with the struggle. When I lived in NYC, I remember my friend from Cambodia saying that "The Killing Fields" presented a candy-coated version of what it was like over there, under the K.R. Yikes.

Also notable is the film Swimming to Cambodia, in which Spalding Gray discusses his role in The Killing Fields and more about Cambodia. Except for a few brief film clips, the whole film is just Gray sitting at a table, talking; it alternates between being hilarious and horrifying.

"Spalding, old man!" Etc.

two years pass...
Having just read the late Haing Ngor's book I have to say that The Killing Fields (in which he starred and won an Oscar) seems tame in comparison. An excellent film though, and anyone who has not seen it should do so.
