Do you own a bible? Which version? Would you recommend this version to dave?

(Come to think of it, does anybody actually 'buy' bibles? Don't you just sort of inherit them?)

I don't think there is a bible in the house where I currently reside. I have a "New English..." somewhere though.

I stole mine from someone called Gideon.

I was given one on leaving school, and I have kept it - as an occasional reference rather than for religious reasons.

I have a Oxford UP annotated Bible that's pretty good, draws from the King James version but with various revisions here and there. Also got a Koran and a Book of Mormon.

i have 3 or 4, i think, all of them given to me. have kept them for sentimental/reference reasons, as martin says. unfortunately i think i may have lost the gideon one, which is a pity, as the bit at the front telling you which section to look in if eg you had a drug problem was k-classic.

why purchase? there are so many people whose days you would brighten if you let them give you one for free.

i've got two. one from the pastors when we used to go to church and one from my parents on easter one year. i do not know what versions they are.

I guess Bibles are fine if you're one of those "12 religious texts" people. Personally I've got that limited-edition vinyl replica of the Dead Sea Scrolls that Funfschtleigger reissued a while back.
