Have you ever bribed official personnel with a tiny chocolate-based snack treat?

SCENARIO A:
A young child tells the lady at the check-in desk today he'll be flying first class. She smiles at him awwwwly. While his parents are distracted checking passports etc the boy offers her a tiny Cadbury's chocolate mini-roll around the side of the desk. Next thing we know he's sitting in a great big leather chair with headphones being offered in-flight snacks.
Moral of the story: "Everybody's happy"

SCENARIO B:
A young child, his flying blue alien friend and his young mother queue for a bus. When they get to the front, the dashing charming bus driver tells them the bus is full. Thinking quickly, the alien produces a tiny Milky Way chocolate bar and offers it to the driver. The driver illegally lets the party onto the bus, and the boy thanks the alien.
Moral of the story: "The bar that never fills you up"

Which of these best reflects your own experience?

is it the mother of the alien or the boy?

The response to this question has been disappointing to say the least.

Never? But it happens on TV. Alright, has anyone attempted to bribe you with chocolate in an official capacity?

Graham (graham), Monday, 30 September 2002 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

it happens on TV
yes, and the sun always shines on TV.

Alright, has anyone attempted to bribe you with chocolate in an official capacity

Some of you must have something people want???? People with chocolate I mean.

Graham (graham), Monday, 30 September 2002 14:25 (twenty-three years ago)

we occasionally get prezzies of biscuits/chocolate/booze from very VERY grateful users.

Stupidest thing at work today... to launch our new "helpdesk" they've done loads of great things, but have also sent an e-mail to everyone saying that any caller on the first day (tomorrow) will be put in a prize-draw to win some really posh booze. argh. now every twunt with a dusty mouse will be calling, and "oo, i need a faster computer" -- OF COURSE YOU DO, all you do all day is play with Excel and download silly flash games. arses

I would point out to Julio, a graduate student at UCL, that I have unmediated, untraceable control over the student records system at UCL, in case he passes any chocolate shops en route to our next meeting.

The computer advice department where I work once sent out an email saying that the next day was Help Desk Personel Appreciation day. So we sent them a bag of chocolate fish. They have been much more helpful since.

I once consumed a mint and then crawled through the backseat of a vehicle owned by a complete stranger who was blocking the sidewalk. Man, was I ever feeling fresh.

In the Cadbury's mini roll advert.

In the Milky Way advert.

(Other people must have seen these????)

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 09:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm quite disappointed now - I thought you had just gone demented.
