Haven't watched/played/listened to any of these except Django Unchained. It was terrible.

I'm not a gamer so I have no idea about those, but I've seen or heard 10 of these and I say it's Iron Man 3 by a fucking mile.

FIFA 14 I guess comes closest to having a positive purpose, but I hate football/videogame interfaces nowadays so idk

Fifa 14 is a fun game, I play it a lot. Enjoyed Django Unchained and Life of Pi.

It's actually 80% rubbish afaict which is kinda sad in such a good year for pop music.

the ongoing success of the now compilations seemed charmingly quaint at first but by now it just elicits an eyeroll of vague contempt because 2014

i got it for our Han for Christmas but i haven't even looked at the track list. Now has been pretty rub for years independent of what's happening in the actual charts

I have experienced a grand total of 2; Skyfall, which I enjoyed a little, and Iron Man 3, which I enjoyed quite a bit. That's all.

it's weird b/c like every other pop fan my age i have v fond memories of it as a formative series in my childhood but i always disliked a good third of it and i remember how annoying it would be forwarding through it every time; the ability to excise that from the music i choose to own is basically the dream

I mean, also a 'cover version' of a novel could be pretty easily expanded - I guess imagined sequels/prequels/novels from a different perspective ('Wide Sargasso Sea' types) would be more like answer songs, but things like graphic novelisation would definitely fit as covers.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and its ilk are basically cover versions I guess

at the less conceptually sophisticated end, there are 'modern versions' of things - Austen the big one, so for instance all of the novels coming soon

I don't play video games at all, but I have played GTAV and like the others it's hilarious fun.

Oh and I've seen Life of Pi - at the cinema. Lovely 3D, the plot maybe less so.

I'm kind of pleased the Now! albums are still going. Now 17 was the first bit of music I ever bought with my own money (think I was 9) and I still have it. Is it still Side 1: AOR/Adult Pop/Mega hits, Side 2: Indie/Rock, Side 3: Dance/Pop/Rap, Side 4: Novelty songs/Everything else?

Interesting that among the films you've got a Bond film, and then mainly comic book adaptations and then a Tarantino – not so many big action/thriller/horror films anymore? Altho I guess the comic book adaptations cover for that

I wd have voted for the Now compilations, I get about every other one of them, like the radio in greasy spoon cafes you're in it with everyone else, regardless of whether I particularly like the music there's a warmth in that communal listening

Got the feeling quite a lot of that dance pop interzone UKG Duke Dumont 'vibe' made it on to the album in this case which can only be good

I could swear I saw Life of Pi before Xmas in 2012, definitely saw the first Hobbit in 2d before then anyway since I saw it a 2nd time in early Jan in 3d

sorry for the revive, but was wondering - did you ever play online? is it me, or has the AI defense gotten to be terrible? I used to play the FIFA games on prior generation systems and while I often had trouble scoring, I never had this much trouble defending.

against players who play actual soccer, I'm good, as I mark well and defend headers well and double team frequently so I force lots of turnovers. I've noticed though most of the dickfingers who play online do nothing but launch through balls and downfield crosses all game on the off-chance that one out of ten will succeed, and when they do, even though I'm marking him from one side, the AI defenders just let the guy blow past. if he crosses it into the box before I can switch players, my AI defender doesn't even attempt to stop the header or volley.

It's infuriating. and it doesn't happen when I play the computer - only when I play other people.
