very excited. sounds like we have a drummer. this is probably the best idea ever. my friend who is going to sing also has some 7 inches and i guess they had another CD called "Straight to Video" so we'll be doing deep cutz not just stuff from Bait & Switch.

TJSA rule, a+ idea matt

make sure the singer takes off his shirt, sweats a lot, and shakes about like a total freak.
Are you going to do: She's Got a Body like a Lightning Rod...?
― QuantumNoise, Thursday, 31 May 2007 16:07 (seventeen years ago) link
also, what was the song on the Fat Day split? that rules.
― QuantumNoise, Thursday, 31 May 2007 16:08 (seventeen years ago) link
we don't know what songs we are going to do...also, the drummer and guitar player havent' actually hear TJSA yet. but they both like stuff like the mummies and dead moon so they should dig it. i'm burning the drummer bait & switch...as far as i know the singer has all the stuff, 7 inches, etc...
we're a ways off from set list yet...but it should be pretty easy to learn.

mostly i'm just glad this made me dig out bait & switch again, so amazing...
Awesome record. Try some Great Plains also (for the encores, lol).

Matt, you rock star.

we're available for state fair appearances!

Shit, I've just realised there were actually three TJSA albums, plenty of meat for a set, Matt. (Now where the hell am I going to find those other two rekkids?!)

damn there's a lot more there than i thought!

We had Straight to Video at the college radio station I volunteered at. Throw in some Electric Eels tunes, too. TJSA sometimes seem like a replica of the Eels. That's good, of course.

Good Lord, I misread this as The MARSHALL JEFFERSON etc, etc... and envisioned a band jamming on "Move Your Body".
For SIX HOURS.

weirdly enough i've heard rumors of a new lineup of tjsa coming soon...

busy schedules of touring (for other peeps) and work travel (me) have slowed progress : (

hahaha I missed this the first time around
awesome
you really need to hear Straight to Video!!
saw them one time in St Louis, they rocked. there were only like 20 people at the show and one of em was a heckler who thought their name was racist. lolz all around.

i've also decided that "We Got It All" by Shepard/Ego Summit is the greatest song of the 90s.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link
That's a good song. I like the Shepard version best. Mmm.

M@tt you should make this happen. I would try to make it happen but this seems like the kind of thing that can only happen in a midwestern locale.

This is the only thread connected to TJSA so I am posting it here: Guitarist Bob Petric passed away over the weekend.
I lived in Columbus for a while after their hey-day and he was still revered as a local legend who never need to pay for a drink (at least until he stopped drinking) and was generally known as a good dude.
Another long-time local wrote a very nice eulogy:https://www.columbusalive.com/story/entertainment/music/2021/04/11/remembering-thomas-jefferson-slave-apartments-guitarist-bob-petric/7180845002

RIP — that is sad ... Saw TJSA opening for GBV a few times. I think I first heard about them from the GBV bootleg where Pollard lists out a bunch of bands. I kind of figured at first he was just making them all up, but they were all real haha.
