"Zabriskie Point is a place for images that have recently fallen out of my camera. Words and meanings are few, I like the images to speak for themselves. It's named after both the visually stunning film by Antonioni - highly subjective and indulgent, albeit enjoyably so - and the remote Borax mine in the centre of death valley. My aim is to achieve a similar purposelessness."
He also told me to check out the main site, his label, and that I'd be hearing from it soon.
Later when that Junior Boys album came out, I remember thinking how fucking cool that was. He said it and he did it.
Reading through all these comments, it's comforting to read about the positive impact he had on so many people through his sheer enthusisam and determination.
R.I.P. Nick.

Nick, I know you'll still be discovering the next big thing when the rest of us have long settled for comfortable familiarity, you'll still be up filtering through a bottomless stash of new music long after the rest of us have called it a night, you'll still be there grinning by the big speakers on the dance floor when the rest of us have long gone home exhausted, you'll still be thumbing through the listings to find where that obscure film is screening while the rest of us nod off to the latest block buster, you'll still be seeing the unnoticed beauty in the grimy, decaying world around us long after we've all stopped looking, you'll still be hurtling down the motorway at night with the stereo on full blast en-route to the-coolest-gig long after the rest of us have settled for the box and the couch, you'll still be telling writers, artists and musicians how great you think their stuff is long after we've all lost any critical judgment, you'll still be giving out praise and encouragement when the rest of us are jaded and cynical, you'll still be providing original, intelligent analysis and thoughtful insight when the rest of us have long settled for repeating acquired wisdom, you'll still be infecting the world with your endless enthusiasm long after the rest of us have literally given up, and most of all, of course, there is no doubt, you'll still be making us sublime compilations and pouring out endless recommendations long, long, long, after we've all completely run out of things we like.
FUCK IT.
Stop all the music, dismantle the song. Nick Kilroy, music's biggest fan, has gone.

At the moment we can handy bear to look at the future without his love and enthusiasm, but time is a great healer. Not only did we lose a son we also lost our best friend. Thank you all.

I wrote about the disappearance of old people, Eddy wrote about raves in Israel and you.... In the time it took us to write two scenes, you had finished two screenplays, and wow they were brilliant. I can still see the multi coloured cards stuck on your wall, with every twist and turn of the plot. Eddy and I sat completely engrossed those nights.
What we were hearing was some of the most exciting ideas we had come across. You felt as if you were in the presence of someone very special. Nobody had an understanding modern culture like you. You managed to bring out facets of modern life that showed it in all its perversity. Incredible stuff.
And you could act too, I bet not many people know that. I remember a CD you passed me. It was you, improvising an entire monologue about a guy who thought that he had been contacted by the future and asked to take part in a great experiment. We moulded that into a great piece, you were very modest about your acting.
I can't come to your remembrance service, I am sorry about that. But I will be thinking of you. Lots of love. Christopher Hogg
