damn this flu, i am hellz of jealous, lex...

I for one welcome Jordan's prior HitlerYouthisms as they got me into this. Hoping the proper album drops in time for me to convince everyone to make it "album of the week" on our "funk" episode of DAA.

Just grabbed the album now. As usual, I am two to three months behind ILM on everything. Perpetually sleeping. Missed seeing him in Montreal back in September at a tiny loft/club. Will smack myself in the head repeatedly for the next day or two.

Is it still possible to track down those original EPs, though? It appears as though the tracks have been significantly shortened on the full-length album. Or am I misreading this information?

really? it's being released as a 2CD and a 5LP...

Look at the track lengths. All I know is that my version of the title track is 2 minutes long and on the original EP it is apparently 5. This is not the only instance of this. Also, there are at least two tracks not on the full-length? Can't figure out which ones.

But confused bitching about album/EP inconsistency aside, this is really something else.

yeah. anyway. is it worth it tracking down the EPs as well? or should 24 tracks of LP fulfill all my dam-funk needs?

once i get the fifth EP i think i'm gonna make a playlist with the songs in that order

kind of curious why he'd edit down some of these...longer versions of tracks in funk are always better, as a general rule.

cuz there are only so many minutes of music that can be on a cd?

the track lengths don't look to be that big of a deal tbh - "search 4 funk's future" & "LAtrifying" seem to have been cut down a few minutes but every other track just has a few seconds on at the end and i'm sure that's because he had to mix all the songs into each other differently than on the EP & because of time constraints

i don't listen to much instrumental stones throw type ish but dam-funk is like the first dude where i really feel emotion, or at least identify with the emotion - the long, winding, whiny synth lines are so evocative imo

vast and warm funk. good stuff.

apparently dam has a new song (9 mins!) called "don't let the smile fool u" that passion of the weiss posted but the link is dead now & i didn't see anyone else posting it, so he might've let an exclusive slip by accident or something
