it's official. OC are my favourite band of all time. OF ALL TIME.

nice to see the new pornographers giving OC some props by covering three of their songs on the 7" that comes with their new LP

There's an instrumental, "Panavision 70," that I love; I think I saved two other songs of theirs too.
― clemenza, Wednesday, 21 April 2010 20:07 (fourteen years ago) link
Classic definitely. Haven't heard the more recent release, but I intend to fix that problem very soon.

Wasn't home when I wrote the previous post...The other two I have on my hard-drive are the first two on Stereo Action Rent Party: a good cover of "Sign of the Times" and "Days."

I feel like I'm not alone when I say that I don't like a single other band that sounds like Outrageous Cherry but I fucking love Outrageous Cherry. I don't know if it's that they just are so good at that sound that anything else seems redundant to me, or they're that good that I like them despite not being into that kind of music. Oh, who cares.

they just are so good at that sound that anything else seems redundant to me, makes sense to me, though i love the style

...also Matthew Smith has one of the best vocals in rock music and he is an awesome songwriter.

Between this band and the Volebeats, Matthew Smith is one of the best songwriters around. SO good.

holy shit a new album 'seemingly solid reality' already and i didn't even know it was on the way!!

sounds good.

emusic sorted me out. one listenthrough has it as a vastly more laidback record than the previous one, in many ways their least psychedelic.. but it's definitely a grower, second listen has the songs already feeling like old friends

i could listen to this band and nobody else for the rest of my life

I saw these guys for a moment at the Ferndale DIY Street Fair, but my cousin was getting too drunk and wanted to leave early. Matthew Smith was wearing a Neu! T-shirt

The new one is great. They seemingly have an endless supply of hooks. I can't understand why they're so obscure.

I'm surprised more folks aren't into their older stuff too. My favorite is probably Nothing's Gonna Chear You Up, which I hope to put out on vinyl soon. We just put their debut out on vinyl... it only took 16 years. Here's a link if anyone's curious. http://www.microficherecords.com/MFR-001.php

i like the debut but it is easily the weakest of everything they've done. having said that, 'pale frail lovely one' is easily in my OC top 10

A deep sustained dive on OC has successfully pulled me out of a post-Bowie death, mortality, existential bummer. Holy fuck are these albums brilliant!
