Oh, sod it. I think I'd rather have Electrik Red than Little Boots. Switching them out.

Man these festivals look awesome. Masonic Boom has even kindly put on Goldfrapp early evening so I can go and get dinner without missing anything. (arf)

(ps that was not a dig as I liked the rest of your lineup and a spare half-hour to get fed is a vital part of any festival lineup IMO)

subtyll cauillacyons (a passing spacecadet), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 14:53 (fourteen years ago) link

here's my rockin festival as a pic:

http://i37.tinypic.com/23ic9j6.jpg

I tried to stick to presently active bands, just as a personal ground rule.

Yah Kid A (Euler), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 14:56 (fourteen years ago) link

well it finally encouraged me to try the last stereolab album so

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 14:57 (fourteen years ago) link

Sod that, I've got dead people and, like, bands that haven't spoken to each other in decades on my list.

Persian Pickle (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 14:57 (fourteen years ago) link

That Air pic is great!

yeah I will probably do that next when I try to WIN this thing---though Miranda Lambert has only 28 buzz points so I think winning is going to involve some serious compromises in taste (e.g. Muse here we come)

It's alright, I'd go.

nate woolls, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 15:00 (fourteen years ago) link

hmmm, never thought our winning festival would have rapeman in the lineup.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 15:08 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm gonna take all the money I saved in not hiring "big" acts and have really amazing stages and chill out zones. And hire the most amazing venue (like a country mansion somewhere) so no one has to sleep in a tent outside anywhere. (Unless they really want to. I might set up a colourspace art thing type tent dorm with ambient drones playing in the corners to lull everyone to sleep)

Persian Pickle (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 15:11 (fourteen years ago) link

Can I change the festival name later? Thinking of a name is way harder than thinking of 15 bands.

subtyll cauillacyons (a passing spacecadet), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 15:39 (fourteen years ago) link

nope you cant

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 16:14 (fourteen years ago) link

i just re-subcribed - £36 for 12 months...its totally worth it to be able to see who visited your profile recently. hmm, probably should use their radio again.

Obviously everyone in my line up would be of the age that they were when my chosen artist photos were taken. In several cases actually resurrected

Tannenbaum Schmidt, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 17:04 (fourteen years ago) link

I just made a festival and joined the league! I went with acts I've been listening to most the last 3 months or so, pretty mainstream stuff. Some of the people on the lower part of the bill should probably be headlining, but I have no problems with my headliners as is.

brontosaur, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 17:37 (fourteen years ago) link

Brontosaur is going to win this between Taylor and The Killers.

& other try hard shitfests (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 17:39 (fourteen years ago) link

some people just have to be too competitive ;)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 18:12 (fourteen years ago) link

I've still got over 600K to spend. Swapped out Billy Bragg for Studio and dropped Kirsty for L&PT. Originally I had hoped for Johnny Marr to join Kirsty on stage and then for Kirsty to do some backing vocals for the Smiths, but Moz had to be a prick and insult Kirsty backstage. Typical.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 18:35 (fourteen years ago) link

x-post

Ha! I actually felt kinda bad about the Killers! But they are my #15 most listened to artist of the last 6 months. Day & Age sounds pretty great a year later. And if Taylor Swift isn't a prototypical ILX pop-favorite then I don't know who is.

Of my top 15 artists from the last 6 months, i only left off Rainer Maria and Elvis Presley. Broken up and dead! I replaced them with Animal Collective and Madonna, which... I guess the Madonna inclusion is a little much. But I just bought Ray of Light last night, its fresh on my mind!

brontosaur, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 18:55 (fourteen years ago) link

we're over 20 members now. But some posters here haven't joined yet, so please do! http://fantasyfestival.last.fm/preview/leagues/1434/1/ilxor

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 20:41 (fourteen years ago) link

btw, Keith Hudson is so much more than just 'dub producer'. Ian Curtis was a fan of his work so having Hudson on just before Joy Division makes sense. King Tubby and Martin Hannett get to work the controls all day long.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 21:35 (fourteen years ago) link

I was just teasing brontosaur, its not like you were obviously padding your festival. I still need to put mine together, but there's a chance The Killers might end up on mine too. Funnily enough, I was just giving Day & Age a spin yesterday and it was sounding better than I expected it too.

I'm @ work so can't really do this right now but, being a hermit, this game reminds me of how there's very few bands/musicians I'd go out of my way to actually go see live.

lex I'm not being a bitch this is a serious question. what happens at a paris hilton concert

Turangalila, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 23:32 (fourteen years ago) link

has there ever been one?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 23:33 (fourteen years ago) link

i think for her last album, she took the kate bush route and eschewed live performances, apart from at her bday party when, i believe, she demanded an impromptu performance but fell over and threw up before she reached the stage <3

lex pretend, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 23:34 (fourteen years ago) link

lol

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 23:36 (fourteen years ago) link

wont it be 5 acts per day if its 3 days? You've just made me go and start to colour code mine you. Damn you!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 23:59 (fourteen years ago) link

oh i see what youve done. That looks great!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 November 2009 00:00 (fourteen years ago) link

mine had 5 different colours...

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 12 November 2009 00:03 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah I guess you could have 5 acts per day, making three of each colour from the bottom row. But I like the 2 stages I got going on for day 2.

Tannenbaum Schmidt, Thursday, 12 November 2009 00:11 (fourteen years ago) link

xpost: three of 2 colours and two of 1 colour from the bottom row.

Tannenbaum Schmidt, Thursday, 12 November 2009 00:12 (fourteen years ago) link

mine's done, colour coded by day and it's in switzerland!
