'nowadays'!! hell no

peed on tree (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 November 2009 10:41 (fourteen years ago) link

ha I didn't mean in terms of present day output but just I find myself putting on ne-yo much more often than td. part of it is cuz I'm going through some relationship angst, though you could probably parlay that into some kinda "ne-yo has more depth" argument but I'm not gonna try

囧 (dyao), Monday, 16 November 2009 11:23 (fourteen years ago) link

"ne-yo has more depth"

won't argue with that

estebutt bannez (The Reverend), Monday, 16 November 2009 14:18 (fourteen years ago) link

dream has more awesome

peed on tree (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 November 2009 14:46 (fourteen years ago) link

not heard a Ne-Yo song i like anywhere near as much as 'Fancy'...musically - maybe a depth issue there that The-Dream wins

mdskltr (blueski), Monday, 16 November 2009 14:48 (fourteen years ago) link

i love ne-yo but what is the last classic song that dude wrote? has he been good for anything since like, chrisete michelle's album?

peed on tree (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 November 2009 14:57 (fourteen years ago) link

"stupid in love"!!!

idk hasn't he just been touring and generally taking a year off flooding the market? alexandra burke's "nothing but the girl" is pretty good.

lex pretend, Monday, 16 November 2009 15:00 (fourteen years ago) link

'part of the list' does a lot for me in the same way 'fancy' does, they're different beasts tho xxo

囧 (dyao), Monday, 16 November 2009 15:01 (fourteen years ago) link

We're basically in there just musically jerking off. Like, Ahhh! Yeahhh! Come onnn! Do ittt!"

ever since i read about his artworld dabbling on wiki i've been dying to see that shit to no avail :/

r|t|c, Monday, 16 November 2009 16:24 (fourteen years ago) link

i kept trying to find out more about it, his alias &c, but every time he was like HAHAHAHA no.

lex pretend, Monday, 16 November 2009 16:33 (fourteen years ago) link

Both are great, but it's got to be The-Dream, right? He's already written some of the most iconic songs of his generation, plus Love vs. Money is hands down 2009's album of the year, in my book.

hoos-kingofthedrugs (deej), Monday, 16 November 2009 16:57 (fourteen years ago) link

hey barely anyone voted in the poll in the first placed and it closed like 3 months after t-d's first album was released, of course it can only tip in the other direction from there

some dude, Monday, 16 November 2009 17:09 (fourteen years ago) link

lol u hated falsetto

hoos-kingofthedrugs (deej), Monday, 16 November 2009 17:11 (fourteen years ago) link

some dude, Monday, 16 November 2009 17:14 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i'd never heard of dream's art career before either. it would be sorta interesting to see what his shit's like, at least

peed on tree (k3vin k.), Monday, 16 November 2009 17:37 (fourteen years ago) link

really good piece lex - the jerking off thing is funny & it makes me wonder what is relationship with los is like - does los just send him beats for terius to sing over? do they work together in the studio? is tricky there when los & terius are working? etc

house of flying jaggers (J0rdan S.), Monday, 16 November 2009 19:28 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah i voted dream orig but since then they do such completely different things 4 me that its 2 hard to pick

Maybe that's because "Fancy" sounds like it could be a Ne-Yo song, much more so than anything else in The-Dream's catalog.

i could die happy never hearing another lazy "bullshit/pulpit" rhyme ever again.

some dude, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 13:30 (fourteen years ago) link

I've never otherwise noticed that rhyme and can't think of another example off the top of my head, not to say that there aren't any

otm da hoosmarker (The Reverend), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 13:38 (fourteen years ago) link

The ones I could remember from songs I've heard lots of times include Kanye, Rich Boy, Beanie Sigel, Snoop Dogg and Ludacris, and a quick google also turned up Nas, Outkast, Saul WIlliams, Bizzy Bone, Pastor Troy, Ice Cube, Bun B, Ill Bill, Gucci Mane, ICP, Lyfe Jennings, Geto Boys, Mystikal, Killah Priest, Esoteric, Field Mob and Chumbawamba.

some dude, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 13:47 (fourteen years ago) link

damn guess im never gonna listen to any of those guys ever again

kinda want to poll dream-written singles from 09, what ones am i missing?

ciara - "high price"
ciara - "like a surgeon"
jamie foxx - "digital girl"
jennifer lopez - "louboutins"
justin bieber - "one time"
mariah carey - "obsessed"
mariah carey - "h.a.t.e.u."
rihanna - "hard"
electrik red - "so good"

k3vin k., Saturday, 26 December 2009 04:05 (fourteen years ago) link

he did foxx's "just like me" too - and the snoop single, though that might be just production

lex pretend, Saturday, 26 December 2009 09:45 (fourteen years ago) link

How about his own singles from this year? "Rockin' That Shit," "My Love," "Walking on the Moon" and "Sweat It Out," if I recall correctly.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Saturday, 26 December 2009 21:22 (fourteen years ago) link

well yeah i was gonna exclude those to avoid a "rockin" landslide

idk tho, this list is kinda disappointing. all his 09 songs would be cooler imo but idk if anyone would care

k3vin k., Monday, 28 December 2009 23:43 (fourteen years ago) link

so i'm listening to confessions - remember, in "kelly's 12 play", the cd is right next to confessions - and there is a breathy interlude in "that's what it's made for" where usher asks "you want me to sweat it out?" and a girl replies "sweat it all out"

MAKES YOU ME WONDER

stupid fruity crazy jag (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 07:59 (fourteen years ago) link

ha I've been bumping confessions so much the past few days

autogoon collective (The Reverend), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 13:41 (fourteen years ago) link

Not sure if it was technically a single, but we covered Christina Milian's "Chameleon" on the Jukebox (second-most controversial single of the year after "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell").

a coffee machine in an office (dabug), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 16:25 (fourteen years ago) link

it wasn't a single

De Suggestivistban (some dude), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 16:58 (fourteen years ago) link

imo everything kevin listed besides "Obsessed" and "So Good" is garbage, "Hard" might be my single least favorite song of the year

De Suggestivistban (some dude), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 16:59 (fourteen years ago) link

although i hope Terius has a demo w/ a scratch vocal floating out there somewhere, if only for the comedy value of him screaming "I'M SO HAAAAARD, I'M SO HAAAAARD"

De Suggestivistban (some dude), Tuesday, 29 December 2009 17:00 (fourteen years ago) link

hahaha

k3vin k., Tuesday, 29 December 2009 21:30 (fourteen years ago) link

idk tho "high price" is pretty dope and i got love for "one time" too, in spite of bieber

k3vin k., Tuesday, 29 December 2009 21:33 (fourteen years ago) link

according to dream's twitur he's filming himself writing / recording a song tonight and will post the youtube tomorrow, because mary j said he should share his talent with the world

Jacques_Lamure, Wednesday, 30 December 2009 21:28 (fourteen years ago) link

it's up on his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/thedreamteam

took him 36 minutes. his 'sam cooke' shit he says

Jacques_Lamure, Thursday, 31 December 2009 01:34 (fourteen years ago) link

that's close to the vibe I was getting. feels more r. kelly doing sam cooke (think "you made me love you") tho
