xp well, quite apart from the politics of 'should'...

I have cuckooland, and I've heard a fair bit of other wyatt, as a couple of friends are big, big fans. I respect the guy a lot for many reasons, but aside from soft machine his work just doesn't quite reach me. it's possibly the voice.

Really? Not even Rock Bottom? It's worth a listen for the production at the very least. The last minute or so of "Sea Song" is one of the most gorgeous moments in pop music IMO.

Daruton, Monday, 30 November 2009 15:49 (fourteen years ago) link

'sea song's probably the tune of his I know best. I agree, it's beautiful – in theory. but I shamefully admit that I just don't feel it.

I'm clearly all dead inside.

O, I made no such pronouncement.

Daruton, Monday, 30 November 2009 16:08 (fourteen years ago) link

didn't mean to suggest you did...just an acknowledgement of the charred lump that resides in my chest.

I thought the 80s album poll might have made a dent in the charts but it seems not.

how do you listen to an album if the entire thing is available for streaming? If I play the first track it doesn't go to the next one automatically...

musically, Sunday, 6 December 2009 01:54 (fourteen years ago) link

no idea, but i believe you can if you have firefox/greasemonkey and the relevant script

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 7 December 2009 22:55 (fourteen years ago) link

when did placebo start getting popular again? They seem to be on the overs of lots of magazines recently. Have they toured with Muse and crossedover to their fans or something? It's just weird that people care about them now after years and years of noone giving a fuck, at least Muse always remained (inexplicably) popular.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 9 December 2009 16:03 (fourteen years ago) link

youre just trying to trick dan into putting them on his festival so we can all laugh at him arent you

wildly unfocused kitchen sink technical deathcore (jjjusten), Wednesday, 9 December 2009 16:22 (fourteen years ago) link

lol not at all , they just seem to be getting lots of press attention and made the last.fm top 20 most played act of 2009.
I think Dan knows how to top the ilxor group, he has it all worked out.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 9 December 2009 20:14 (fourteen years ago) link

i thought results went up weds?

I think Placebo support in the UK has been pretty much consistent since they first appeared. They've been solid top 10 with just about every album without ever threatening to be big. They've hit #1 in France with every album since Black Market Music almost 10 years ago. Never made a dent in the US but maybe that's changing?
