At the moment we can handy bear to look at the future without his love and enthusiasm, but time is a great healer. Not only did we lose a son we also lost our best friend. Thank you all.

I wrote about the disappearance of old people, Eddy wrote about raves in Israel and you.... In the time it took us to write two scenes, you had finished two screenplays, and wow they were brilliant. I can still see the multi coloured cards stuck on your wall, with every twist and turn of the plot. Eddy and I sat completely engrossed those nights.
What we were hearing was some of the most exciting ideas we had come across. You felt as if you were in the presence of someone very special. Nobody had an understanding modern culture like you. You managed to bring out facets of modern life that showed it in all its perversity. Incredible stuff.
And you could act too, I bet not many people know that. I remember a CD you passed me. It was you, improvising an entire monologue about a guy who thought that he had been contacted by the future and asked to take part in a great experiment. We moulded that into a great piece, you were very modest about your acting.
I can't come to your remembrance service, I am sorry about that. But I will be thinking of you. Lots of love. Christopher Hogg

I was also a weekly gabba visitor, and picked up a lot of great music because of him.
Anyhow, R.I.P. Nick - this world is better for passionate, creative and generous people like you, and I'm sure you're spirit will encourage someone somewhere to make great music, help out a friend, or shout their passion to the mountaintops.
Much love,
NH

Again, my sincere condolences to Nick's family. I never knew him, but I visited gabba frequently and learned so much about music from him.
One love --EJF

Nick was a dear friend going back to my early teens. I can say that he was always an inspiration and always pushed the boundaries of everything he was involved with. I can say for sure that he was a defining influence to me and many of my comtempories.
I know that he will live long in many peoples memories and will remain a part of out lives.

later that night, i recieved my first gabba disc which is amazing and getting better with each listen. my next few times in london, i stayed at nick and dee's place. it became my favorite place in london. nick would go to all lengths to pick me up or drop me off at the airport and always refused gas money.
once in his flat, we would sit in front of nicks computer, drinking mad caffeine, shooting off names of songs and groups loved, forgotten, or hardly known. we'd also discuss ourups and downs and find a way to laugh at everything.visiting london will never be the same for me!nick kilroy RIP

I only met Nick once. At the last Club Freaky Trigger he came up to say hi and to tell me he really liked my writing on FT. It meant a lot to me. It's a shame to only have one brief real life memory, but one of friendliness, enthusiasm and generosity is a pretty good one.

The memorial in leeds on friday was one of the hardest days of my life. It was a comfort to spend time with nick's family and friends, all interesting and lovely people.
It was great to see all the UWCN gang in one place again, but it's sad that it took such a tragedy and that we've not managed it before.
Coincidentally, just a couple of weeks before his death, nick had answered the time honoured question, "what song would you like played at your funeral". Nick's characteristically irreverent and mischevious choice was The Butthole Surfers - Kuntz. After several readings music was played, first a Tom Waits track then the Sparks disco anthem nick loved so much. Kuntz, next on the cd, was just about to start when everyone was ushered out of the building to make way for the next cermeony, but Jk made sure it blared out accross the grounds of the crematorium at full volume from his car stereo as we pulled away.
We all gathered in a nearby pub after the ceremony to share fond memories and stories, shedding tears of laughter and deep sorrow, recalling just how unique and special nick really was.

"The Number 1 Song in Heaven"? If so, an inspired and witty choice (but all of Sparks's disco anthems are, it's just that one seems very apropos).

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so ; For those, whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow, Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy picture[s] be, Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow, And soonest our best men with thee do go, Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery. Thou'rt slave to Fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell, And poppy, or charms can make us sleep as well, And better than thy stroke ; why swell'st thou then ? One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And Death shall be no more ; Death, thou shalt die. (John Donne)

The picture is of a guy standing at the top of a ladder, pointing to the moon, saying " I want, I want".
I think that was Nick, always wanting the moon.
Miss you mate. Andy P.
