Guilty Simpson is prolly the second best hip-hop album of 08 so far after Webbie.

finally heard this guy on the Morgan State radio station the other night, until he said his name a minute or two into the song I kept thinking "is this Beanie Sigel? why is he rhyming over some tinny faux-Dilla shit?". no way can a rapper with breath control as pathetic as Webbie have the best album of the year or even the past 3-4 months, though. the album has a few jams but the guy couldn't ride a beat if it had handlebars and a bucket seat.

at least they actually wrote an article around the interview instead of a straight up Q&A. his last XXL cover story was the most incomprehensible and pointless interview I've ever read.

come to think i'm actually really liking this. dude over some of my favorite beats of the last couple years and he raps like he's a hip-hop head instead of hustler or a self-consciously insular wordy underground weirdo. it's like we grew up loving the same records and where i decided to write about it he decided to make it.

^this from a dude who loves the "make it rain" remix which makes about 8 katrina jokes

anyway it is distasteful but what's the point of complaining about the cover of a comp tape from some dude named "dj envy"

anyway what is on that w/r/t music-- old shit i imagine. anything newish worth while?

this t.i. song is pretty hot. these synths sound like the ones from "dat girl right there" except they're pretty annoying in this song. really ruins the vibe imo. guitar is awesome though.
