Yes, Dodos disc is v. good.

good thing it hasn't only been 3 months

My generation is doomed. We may not have more than the first three months of 08 to compare to 07.

I love the She & Him album.

nate woolls, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:11 (sixteen years ago) link

2008 is already a better year for albums than the whole of 2007 was. For me MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Be Your Own Pet, Hot Chip, The Young Knives, These New Puritans, Neon Neon, Magnetic Fields and Envelopes stood out so far.

zeus, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, forgot Gnarls Barkley.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that Goslings album too.

grimly fiendish, Thursday, 3 April 2008 10:22 (sixteen years ago) link

So far this year, in order: Vampire Weekend, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, Destroyer.

o. nate, Thursday, 3 April 2008 15:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I am LOVING LOVING LOVING the new Mystery Jets and Cut Copy albums, which is a little odd since I wasn't particularly crazy about either of their debuts. Portishead is quite nice too, although I'm a little hesitant about going balls-out crazy over it when it's not even the final version. And that Dodos album is a butt-ton of fun.

srsly I'm loving this year so far and there's still an absolute ton of stuff to come.

jamescobo, Thursday, 3 April 2008 15:50 (sixteen years ago) link

That new Snoop Dogg album is banging! Its got this crazy 80s sound that sounds very cool right now.

I have also really been feeling DJ A-Trak's Oh No You Didn't: Live in Vancouver Mix CD. Did you know he is Kanye's tour DJ? He really knows diverse music.

Rob Threezy, Thursday, 3 April 2008 16:45 (sixteen years ago) link

top 9 for me (can't think of a 10th one...), alphabetically:

Atlas Sound
Autechre
Boris
Earth
Malkmus + Jicks
Mountain Goats
Portishead
Raveonettes
Spiritualized

stephen, Thursday, 3 April 2008 17:12 (sixteen years ago) link

deej, Thursday, 3 April 2008 18:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Rob, I'm pretty sure most here anyone who knows of A-Trak is aware of both his background and his tastes. and what is hazing you for stating things that are obvious and getting excited about someone he considers passe. You'll probably get more hazing from him and others. Don't worry about it. Welcome to ILX.

The Reverend, Thursday, 3 April 2008 18:46 (sixteen years ago) link

i just meant dude's clueless stuck-in-03 hollertronixism sounds like a jawns'n'jernts parody instead of actual posting

and what, Thursday, 3 April 2008 18:46 (sixteen years ago) link

i guess maybe i can ask shipley to check the hollerboard and let me know if dudes still actually talk like that

I made a top 10 of the year so far. Boredom! yaaaay!

1) Sun Kil Moon - April
2) Genghis Tron - Board Up The House
3) The Magnetic Fields - Distortion
4) The Ravonettes - Lust Lust Lust (I'm as surprised as you are)
5) The Goslings - Occasion
6) The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride
7) Beach House - Devotion (again, quite surprised)
8) Autistic Daughters - Uneasy Flowers
9) Jucifer - L'autrichienne
10) Atlas Sound - Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Hear

I'm sure Boris, Portishead, and The Breeders would be on there if I'd heard them.

jonathan - stl, Monday, 7 April 2008 03:28 (sixteen years ago) link

That Atlas Sounds album sounded pretty shithouse the one play i gave it.

wilter, Monday, 7 April 2008 03:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I also mixed up the title of that album. its Feel not Hear. I suck.

jonathan - stl, Monday, 7 April 2008 03:37 (sixteen years ago) link
