djdee2005 (djdee2005), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 06:54 (twenty years ago) link

ama: www.huumerecordings.com (then click when your mouse makes the "no huume" message flash while it's near the "go dead" text).

m. (mitchlnw), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 08:18 (twenty years ago) link

"Huume" is "drug" in Finnish (of the narcotic sort, not a medicine), by the way.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 15 September 2004 08:34 (twenty years ago) link

Has any one heard "Running Away" - his new 12" with Raz O'Hara?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:04 (twenty years ago) link

NO

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:19 (twenty years ago) link

and it's not on soulseek. :(

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:26 (twenty years ago) link

It's only a 12" so that should slow things up some. I'm quite keen obv - "What Good" was one of my favourite tracks on The Present Lover (was it Raz on the title track as well?) and I'm hoping these new tracks are sequels of sorts.

Raz also tops on the Alexander Kowalski album...

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:30 (twenty years ago) link

"What Good" was one of my favourite tracks on The Present Lover

My favourite probably! I had felt that there was some sort of Luomo backlash brewing, but this thread cheers me up immensely.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:32 (twenty years ago) link

Can someone who understands them post the lyrics to the title track?

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:32 (twenty years ago) link

I've always heard it as (in the order that the cut-up vocals appear:

I'm the present, the true lover...
Life, whatever (forever?); no nobody does it better, does it better...
Would you be mine? My silver, would you be mine my most moment, my most moment...
hunting for you, hunting for you...
How could you leave, how could you leave it all behind...

I can't remember any other lyrics in it off-hand. It's not supposed to make sense really, although all the vocals imply a lot.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 17 September 2004 01:40 (twenty years ago) link

vladislav is doing the production on the new gold chains and sue cie record...!

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:32 (twenty years ago) link

"What Good" is my favorite as well, it's that little gentle, extremely quiet/subtle keyboard thing going on.

"Shelter" is pretty wicked too...live it was a revelation.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:33 (twenty years ago) link

its on soulseek, vinyl rip but at 256, two excellent tracks though the second might have a bassline a little too close for comfort to "beat it" but it still sounds great. first track might be one of the best pop songs of the year.

twelve, Friday, 17 September 2004 02:45 (twenty years ago) link

I'm pretty sure a lot of vocals on The Present Lover are just cut up syllables, particularly the main refrain in the 'hunting for you' section.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:49 (twenty years ago) link

who has it on slsk?

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:50 (twenty years ago) link

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:53 (twenty years ago) link

Please please you have no idea how happy I would be.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:54 (twenty years ago) link

I am nordicskilla on slsk if you want to whisper it.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:54 (twenty years ago) link

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:03 (twenty years ago) link

i think am's inner noise dude has been peeking out lately

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:04 (twenty years ago) link

That's a rude way to talk about his person.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:05 (twenty years ago) link

well isn't he usually rude? i find his noise side to be quite the gentleman.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:06 (twenty years ago) link

no i haven't heard it yet. :-(

i'll probably need someone to copy it for me since i haf no money. hint hint (what what) (uh).

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:09 (twenty years ago) link

Yes, I will do it for you. But Jaymc has it and he lives in the same city as you. And you know him.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:09 (twenty years ago) link

He is also about to receive my microhouse mixes...eventually.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:10 (twenty years ago) link

ok, maybe i'll ask him, if he can forgive me for not making it to his show.

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:10 (twenty years ago) link

am!!st once you get your new imac you can run soulseek/nicotine.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:10 (twenty years ago) link

i just spent $650 on plane fare so i'm not buying a new imac anytime soon.

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:12 (twenty years ago) link

ok well no more complaining about no money for MUSIC then

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:15 (twenty years ago) link

Luomo is everything I love about music.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:20 (twenty years ago) link

does he have a giorgio moroder moustache? cos that's about 45% of what i love about music.

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:21 (twenty years ago) link

definitely sounds like beat it.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:22 (twenty years ago) link

actually, it's the bass line from billie jean.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:22 (twenty years ago) link

NO IT'S SMOOTH CRIMINAL.. really

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:23 (twenty years ago) link

whoa, i was just talking about the first track. the b-side is direct beat it ripoff, no doubt.

this must have been a michael jackson themed release.

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:29 (twenty years ago) link

does the cover feature bobo jacking off a llama?

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:30 (twenty years ago) link

that would be a hint.

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:30 (twenty years ago) link

ew

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:33 (twenty years ago) link

i think i drank too much spicy v8 tonight.

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Friday, 17 September 2004 03:37 (twenty years ago) link

Has anyone heard this domenico ferarri/luomo thing?

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 17 September 2004 04:08 (twenty years ago) link

AMATEURIST, YOU WILL GET THIS AND "ALPHABETICAL" NEXT TIME I SEE YOU!!

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 17 September 2004 16:44 (twenty years ago) link

I am happy that other people think "What Good" is the best track, too.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 17 September 2004 16:46 (twenty years ago) link

"Talk in Danger" is my favorite - babbling subdued-hysterical desire.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 September 2004 16:50 (twenty years ago) link

"The Present Lover" could be my favorite Luomo's tune from TPL album, but all Luomo tunes are very astonishing. That moment of The Present Lover song, where rhythm is starting after vocal introduction, is probably one of the most moment where house music is making you start to dance immidiatly. Same feeling I have with "Market" opening track of Vocalcity album...but prologue is more longer. Or I should say I have this feeling every time when I listen Luomo.

btw:
Did anybody hear Domenico Ferrari vs. Luomo - "Kick" remixes ?
